Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted November 17, 2007 (edited) thought this deserved a whole new topic....Don Maloney has announced that the Coyotes did get Ilya Bryzgalov off waivers from the Anaheim Ducks today. The dealine was 12:00 EST. They put a claim in yesterday when hearing the news that he was available. Maloney and Ducks GM Brian Burke had previous discussions about the big ( 6'3) Russian goalie in the past, but a deal never materialized. Bryzgalov was already in LA. The Ducks played there 2 nights ago. He will join the Coyotes for todays game in LA, which is a 1:00 pm local start. Look for Bryzgalov to start and Mikael Tellqvist to serve as the back up. Ducks play yotes on fri. should be interesting if bryz and giggy start. Edited November 17, 2007 by Duck Guy
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 17, 2007 There goes Alex Aulds chance to get his career back. Good move by the Coyotes.
BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted November 17, 2007 Something in me knew he would end up there. I kind of feel sorry for Auld, Tellqvist, and Aebischer though. Three good backups capable of starting a good 20-30 games a season, all bunched up and turned into nothing. Bryzgalov is a good pickup though, it won't help the other goalies on the team, but it will help the Coyotes as a whole.

Gordie Howe hat trick 110 Report post Posted November 17, 2007 I send my condolences to Brygalov for having to go to the Cyotes. It's good for Brygalov he is getting off the Ducks, he will be the starter in Phoenix no doubt and get out of Giggy's shadow.

sibiriak 84 Report post Posted November 17, 2007 It's good for Brygalov he is getting off the Ducks, he will be the starter in Phoenix no doubt and get out of Giggy's shadow. And he is a UFA after this season. If he plays well, he'll have his pick of what team to go to next year. I still can't believe Burke couldn't even get a pick or a prospect for him. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 18, 2007 Good for him. It'd be nice if he shutout the Ducks in everygame they play this season, it'll show Burkie he picked the wrong goalie.

That would be awesome. I hate the Ducks, especially Pronger and Giguere. Those two guys are big cheaters IMO.

I still can't believe Burke couldn't even get a pick or a prospect for him. I think he'll check the market situation after the season. Good question. From what I recall the Leafs were gonna sign him as soon as they unloaded Raycroft. ALL players want to go to Toronto as we all know.
