I hate it when guys try to grab and wrestle when they're fighting against guys like Lilja who love to open it up. Well, I figured that after the way Lilja destroyed Phaneuf, everyone else would be afraid to fight him. Your 3 stars of the game,Aussie? He hasn't shown up on the scoresheet, but I think Flip has had a very good game. He made wise plays,good hustle & seemed to connect a bit with Dats. Some of the girls that figure skate at our rink would have Zombonied the ice with him! Dandyass must have panicked that Koivu was in a fight (cancer survivor, and your skill guy, and your captain, and your European) and thought he'd score some points in the room or something, otherwise I don't know wtf he must have been thinking. Great game, Wings. So often they have dominated in the past, had a team on the ropes only to have the other team rally for two goals and win in a shootout or something. (We do not have internet at my house, hopefully we will soon). Great game tonight for the Wings. Happy to see that Dom got the "W" on his first game back. It may be because I don't catch much news, but it seems like the Wings are skating pretty well at the top of the league. He'd be a good fighter if he knew how. Lilja will kill ya! Raffy and Sammy!!! WTF That was so sick. I knew Sammy was a slight fighter, but I've never seen him. And I had no idea Raffy Laffy Taffy had a mean bone in his body. That was awesome. Wasn't a good fight by any streach of the imagination, but it was exciting to see new baligerents. I was really impressed with our performance tonight and it was one of those games where I felt everyone contributed. Lidstrom is amazing. When people talk about the best players in the league, why isn’t he mentioned more often? It’s always the forwards that are talked about but Lids is unbelievable. Just doesn’t make a mistake. Lebda impressed me; those wheels of his are just great to watch. Always looking to join the rush but he’s also responsible defensively. Lilja too was pretty good and it looks as though he’s finally starting to use his size. Rafalski had a very good game and didn’t turn the puck over tonight. Kronwall is finally starting to impress me and last but certainly not least, Chelios played a faultless game; he really is an ageless wonder. As for the forwards, the best of the lot was Datsyuk who had a 3 point game. Still can’t get that hatttrick though! Filppula as I’ve mentioned had a terrific game and was the lone Wing who was +2. He could’ve had 2 assists with a bit of luck (Hudler and Franzen both denied) and he did some nice work on the PK. I might be that biased but I personally felt he could’ve got a star. I mean, it's nice to have great wins like this, but man, it was underwhelming to watch an original six matchup as lopsided as this one was. Overall though, you can't knock the effort. Solid play all around and Datsyuk doing his thing again. I return to my statement a month or so back that he'd be scoring goals again before too long. Nice to see. Hasek didn't stand out but it was no fault of his own seeing as he was barely challenged but he did his job and got the win so it's something to build on. Nothing cheap or dirty about what Dandy did imo. When you mess with a small non-fighter and long time captain like Koivu, all bets are off. Its a situation where jumping on a guy's back becomes acceptable, anything that happens is Sammy's doing for deciding to play tough guy against Koivu. If the situation were switched around, and someone was trying to rough up and fight Datsyuk, i dont think anybody would have a problem with a Wing doing the same thing. I didnt see Sammy on the ice at all for the last 2 minutes when he got out of the box, Babcock probably saved him from turtling to somebody. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
