Chris Simon Faces More Punishment From NHL

are we talking about the very same Rutuu who'd be the last person (OK, except for this little ***** Tootoo) you would accuse of playing clean and not being an ass himself, and finally - of not being a whiner?

Simon deserves a suspension. for stupidity. period.

how much he did to Rutuu is another question. I might be blinded because Rutuu is one of those very few players who I don't stand in this league, but... I'd rather first estimate how much harm exactly Simon did to Rutuu.

it's not some god damned broken neck or what to ask for season-long suspension, right? although, Simons rep may as well land him this kind of punishment. nobody's gonna cry after him however :)

Intent of Simon's action is what the league will be looking at - not how much damage he did to Ruutu. Hollweg is a no-talent prick too, and wasn't seriously injured either, and Simon was still suspended the rest of the season and playoffs.

That's a pretty stupid move for Simon. Or anybody for that matter. Just read that SI Simon article last week too, and it brought me around to kinda liking him again. Then he goes and pull this. What an idiot.

Not sure if such a rule exist but in all honesty this guys needs to be fired from the NHL entirely, or at least gone for this season, he's a complete disgrace to anyone who's ever played in the NHL and needs to be prevented from ever doing such again.

25 for the whole act, the kick and the stomp. Then add on another 10-25 for his history.

That is how I see it going as well, which would be a better part of the season.

However with his last act be so egregious and heinous you have to wonder if the league will go harder on him.

See it's tough for me because, even though he used his skates with ill intent, he went for Ruutu's skate. Is it an excuse for the act? Not by any means, but because of the where we stomped I equate this more towards a violent slash than trying to cut him.

Seriously, what is wrong with this guy?!?! What makes him think it's OK to do that to someone? He needs to get knocked the F out. Whether it be out of consciousness or the NHL. Either one will work.

That's a good way to sever the Achilles tendon! I say 20-25 games would be right, maybe more.

For arguments sake, lets just say that he does this to Crosby. Does that change anything, and more importantly should it change anything?

yes and no.

yes, because with this being Crosby all Canadian media would be making a hell of an issue out of it. and with this being Ruutuu, who for many hockey fans is a pest who deserves a good beating on a night basis - that's much different story.

no, because obviously the punishment is for the crime not for the object. but honestly, it's never gonna work like that.

Yes Crosby, AO and maybe Z and Malkin would cause a more severe punishment and possible ban. But then again every league protects it's stars like that.

I was just about to post this. This is a great idea for the team and the league to distance themselves from Simon and his actions.

With that said I believe Simon is sincere in his apology and that seeking some form of counseling proves it
