shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2007 i still think the Wings need to play either Chicago or Toronto @ the Big House in Ann Arbor and have 110,000+ fans watch! I would love to see the wings play any of the original six in an outdoor game. However i don't like the idea of them playing it at the big house. I think that it is way to big for hockey and the poor saps that are stuck way up top would not see a damn thing. I really can't think of a single place that the game could be played in Michigan. I can't wait to see the classic. It should be pretty cool to see the game and all the fans. On top of it all, it will just be great to be able to see hockey on TV. I hope that they get some great numbers and that it is a high scoring game. The NHL needs to put a great product out on that surface in hopes to sell the league. auxlepli 17 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 Pre-game show in NHL.com right now! They just showed a feature about building the rink. Good but I'm looking for something more in-depth.
Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 I am looking forward to watching this, as well as many other hockey fans i'm sure. But seriously, the only time the NHL could've picked that would be worse than Jan 1st is 9 PM on superbowl sunday. Jan 1st is college football day. There are 6 games that day including the Rose, Sugar, and Cotton bowls (all superior bowls). This was very stupid of the NHL, it would've made more sense to put this game on Christmas. The NHL can compete with the NBA, but definately not College Football. Dano, I couldn't agree with you more. This is again Bettman being Bettman. I really think he is ruining this game. what he should have done is know that the NFL playoff games don't start until 4et next saturday is have the game next saturday before football. Trying to live up or break up College Football Bowl game is STUPID!! As great as this outdoor game is going to be, it will probably have the lowest ratings in the US all season long!! Make it like Feb 9-10, a week after the super bowl where the only thing going on is the NFL Pro Bowl, NBA and College Basketball. They really didn't need to have it on this date. timothy1997 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 Horrible, horrible idea to have this on New Years Day. The only way I'd watch this over college football is if the Red Wings were in it. I am along the same lines. Hockey and Football are my favorite sports but I rarely watch anyone but the Wings when it comes to hockey. Football is different tho. timothy1997 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 Great job by Betass. Lets have a hockey game which is suppose to attract thousands of fans on one of the busiest college football days of the year. Good time too 1pm when there are TWO bowl games going. 4 college football games in total will be underway when the puck drops at 1pm.

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 You're not alone. The NFL bores me; college football doubly so. No way, I think Pro Football is uber-exciting. College Football is good, but I love the NFL. It might have something to do with growing up in Green Bay, WI.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 Is Miller actually allowed to wear the Beanie hat during the game? That could be in violation of goalie pad size regulations.

I would assume that it's like that in Green Bay, just with football, so I shant begrudge your love of the game. I get the same thing out here in Jersey with people that just don't "get" hockey. Glad I'm watching it on t.v... front row seats would still suck My wife mentioned that too, they ARE pretty far away. Guess it's more about the experience of being there. And yes, I'm already sick of Sid. Eight years younger than me, little bastard.

I can relate. I'm sure you can imagine how many people in Green Bay, WI care at all about hockey. Oh well, as long as I can go to local rinks and play every year, and Center Ice continues to be available....that's all I need.
