Hank 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2007 http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/1132...Alfredsson.html I was reading a recent Hockey News and they were talking about this kid Fabian Brunnstrom. Aparently he was passed over in his draft years but since then has blossomed in the SEL. In the magazine, they felt that he'll be offered an NHL contract by June 1 and that Detroit might have an advantage because of all the Swedes we have on our team. If Dick Axelsson makes the team next year, we'll have more Swedes than the Swedish National team.
Opie 308 Report post Posted December 27, 2007 You do me we will have the Swedish National team. That was meant to be a joke but with the talks of a potential Sundin trade (I don't believe it) this team could literally be one player away from having the top 2 forward lines and some of their best D-men. Damn!!!

Damn!!! Just for poops and giggles, our 23 man roster next year could have this many Swedes on it: Zetterberg, Holmstrom, Sammuelson, Franzen, (Dick) Axelsson, Brunnstrom, Lidstrom, Kronwall, Ericsson, Lilja. That's true, but like somebody commented on that site, he might need to be brought up slowly. That benefits the Wings more than any other team in the NHL. Guest jaytan Report post Posted December 27, 2007 I want to know what's in the water in Sweden that makes almost every dude an NHL worthy player? Ice? I don't think it's that they've got more NHL-worthy talent than other nations. It's just that the Wings scout Sweden better than anyone else.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted December 28, 2007 How long until we bust out a yellow and blue alternate uniform? I was going to post the same thing before I read that. It'd be funny seeing Draper and Chelios wearing that jersey, though.
KDDRWINGS1 9 Report post Posted December 28, 2007 He could be on a line with Grigorenko! Luckily we didn't draft him or spend money on him yet or he'd wanna be a top six next year. I'll believe when I see it.

Systemfel 33 Report post Posted December 28, 2007 I hope we get this guy. He's still pretty unpolished in some areas, and definitely needs to add some consistency, but he could be a good NHL winger one day.
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted December 28, 2007 I hadn't heard of Burnnstrom until yesterday. Just now I read this. Fabian Brunnstrom, elite Swedish hockey player: To choose the Red Wings when NHL teams come calling. It's not a name most hockey fans are familiar with, but Brunnstrom is the most coveted (and available) prospect around. He's 22, a late bloomer who was undrafted and an unrestricted free agent. Does Brunnstrom have his sights set on Detroit, where he'll have plenty of Swedish pals? So I'm thinking one of those guys posts here or at least reads the boards here. irishtemper14+25 11 Report post Posted December 28, 2007 yea someone must read the boards...but that was a really funny article, i liked the santana putting up numbers in detroit. but i really liked the lions drafting anyone but a wide receiver

Kinda Misleading, At first i thought this was from his own mouth, didnt know it was just a suggestion from our best buds at the DetNews.

I don't think it's any secret that this guy is coveted, and it's even less of a secret that the Wings are Swedes up and down the lineup.
