Was Babs pumping up Sammys image for a reason?

Sammy had a terrible game....

Agreed, he was terrible. But the strange thing was that Babs put him out there straight after he committed a turnover which led to a 3-on-1. Normally Babs would bench someone after they made a play like that, but not with Sammy. I'm therefore inclined to believe he really does rate him that highly.

Sammy played horrible last night just like everyone else. The thing that made him stand out from everyone was that beautiful backhanded pass right to a blues player that led to the scoring chance. He's a f***up plain and simple.

F**k up?

That's pretty overly dramatic there.

I would trade Franzen before I'd trade Sammy

lol, this is funny because on my NHL videogame dynasty, I had 120+ points with Samuelsson

Is it? It's one thing if he shoots too much and makes meaningless plays offensively, but when he starts turining the puck over like that, it reminds me of Lilja's turnover to Selanne. I don't want the Wings to lose again in the playoffs due to mistakes like that.

Well, I'm always either overly dramatic about an issue or I don't care about it, so I'm not surprised if it sounded that way.

I capisce, and don't get me wrong, he wasn't good last night, I'm far from denial there. But many of the Wings were bad last night as well.

I'm just one who rarely overreacts or underreacts to most anything with sports or work or personal life, most especially sports watching when I have little/no control over the outcome. For the most part I'm just quiet and emotionless. I do care though despite me not showing it that much.

I certainly expect it after a loss, but if there's one thing I cannot stand, it's overreactions to losses and scapegoats. I basically don't like it because I used to act this way when I have no control over it, and (at least to me) there's more important things in life and greater tragedies than a Red Wings loss (or loss to any team) or somebody stinking up the joint in a game. I don't live/die by the Red Wings even though I rarely miss and enjoy watching games, there's more to life than them, or complaining about Lilja or Samuelsson or 'tenders, or whining about annoucers that we have no control over, or why Barry Melrose doesn't like the Wings as much when he won't change, and so forth.

But I am starting to digress so I will end here...

God dang, you guys are brutal! I don't remember you guys chewing Schnieder's head off last season when he'd regularly turn the puck over like 5 times in every game. Some of those led to goals, Sammy's only led to scoring chances.

You don't have to worry about him choking in the playoffs, we already know he can perform well. I don't think I have to remind you that he scored the only two goals in Game 6 against the Sharks. Babs is probably trying to boost his confidence because he knows if he does, Sammy will play better.

i didnt get to catch last nights game, but sammy has been pretty good of late...i think babs might not be giving him enough tough love, you have to bench someone for a little bit or chew em out for a turnover that leads to a 3 on 1 because that will help him get going more than a pat on the back and free second line spot.

i remember a few games ago hudler made a bad play, not nearly as bad as giving them a 3 on 1 and the announcers showed babs chewing him out and the next shift huds went out he roofed a handcanon for the game winning goal if i recall

Are you a moderator? I sometimes wonder who died and put you in charge of threads? <_<

In reply to original poster, I believe Sammy would be good trade bait, and yes, almost all the wings had a bad night.

How is it overly dramatic? This guy is supposed to be our 2nd line scoring, but instead he plays like s*** almost every game.

You guys support Samuelsson way too much. He's sucking everybody back into the vaccum (sorry Heaton, but I had to steal your line there) with a couple goals the past few games. Did anybody notice that he's still playing badly regardless of those goals?

I hate Samuelsson. I hope this is Babcock boosting him up for a trade, because I can't stand seeing him play for this team anymore. He ******* sucks: simple as that.

As I posted last week, Sammy's biggest problem is the fact that he scored 20 goals his 1st season here, and that he's the only right handed forward we have who's expected to score. Now that I think about it, I wonder if Sammy would be as hated by Wings fans if he was a left-handed shot? It might be irrelevant, but for some reason I think it does actually make a difference that he's one the few right-handed shots we have, so more is expected from him.

Saying somebody is a f**k up and blows when that person is performing neither great nor overly terrible is overreacting. Hating somebody is being overly dramatic.

He had a bad game last night.

You people need to relax.

He had one bad game in a decent stretch, and you guys are all over him, next time he has a two point game I expect you to be here overreacting and singing his praises to the same extent.

He played like crap, the team as a whole did not play that great. He made one glaring mistake, and now he is going to cost the team the Stanley cup.

Relax, one bad game for him and the team in about 12 games.

with the way people talk about Sammy you would think he f***ed their girlfriends, not everyone on the team is a datsyuk with a salary cap you are going to have players that are flawed, just watch if we trade away Sammy and or Lilja, this board will be quick to spit their venom on someone else, unless of course its Zetta or Lids.

Here is a question, because downey fought and the team lost does that mean he had a s***ty night too.

I mean he didn't score, his fight didn't turn the energy, Zetta has been hurt, all of the things that Downey being on the ice that he was supposed to bring to the team and none of it happened .

Downey sucks and is lazy!

I can tell! ;)

Anyway, people are allowed to express their opinions without having someone constantly tell them they're being overly dramatic.
