arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 obviously it depends on the final roster. obviously the 2 most talented are sid and vinny, with ovy and jagr not too far behind. but this is the all star game. not a big deal. so give it to a vet who is closer to the end. sid is going to be at this event every year for the next 15 years. So give it to someone who makes the squad who is 35+. An honourary type thing. West, yeah, I 100% agree on Nick. But guys like Thornton, Iginla, Sakic, could esily take it. Of the names that you mentioned I think only Sakic could challenge, Thornton and Iginla, no way unless i'm mistaken, sakic just had hernia surgery and is out 2-3 months ... i could see iginla maybe, but lids has to be the front runner, especially being the leading votegetter ... in the east i agree, it should go to a veteran ... to me the C at the allstar game is honoring a player who, even in a room full of all-stars, stands out as an unquestioned leader ... sid is an unquestioned talent, but i don't know that he's in the same leadership strata across the league as guys like sundin, shanny, or alfie ... i think personally i'd like to see alfie get it, the sens are the top team in the east and the guy deserves some recognition ... Cause I want Ozzy in there! don't know what babs would do ... i'd like to see ozzie in there, i think he's deserved it this year, but they may overlook him because he's splitting the games with dom and because our goalies seem to often get a lack of respect because of who is playing in front of them ... that said, hopefully the league will see through that crap and recognize that ozzie has been playing lights out all season ... Babcock determines the captains for both teams, as well as each player to be on the Western roster. In all seriousness, I always thought the coaches picked that. No, someone asked the question "how are the captains selected." Someone said "who cares." You said those buying a jersey might care. I wondered why those buying a jersey would care about the selection process.
