40#1Fan 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2008 http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20..._hopes_for.html Update from practice: Henrik Zetterberg (back spasms) returned to practice Monday and skated hard, even participating in the sprints at the end of the session. It appears he'll be ready to play Wednesday at home against Phoenix. "It felt all right today. I skated pretty good. It's definitelty going the right way,'' Zetterberg said. "Still have a day tomorrow before we have to make a decision. If it keeps going the way it's going, I'm real positive I'll play on Wednesday.'' Dan Cleary was sporting a black eye from his fight with Chris Pronger last Wednesday but said the swelling subsided in one day and he's ready to play Wednesday. Chris Osgood returned from the All-Star Game and practiced because he hadn't had a good on-ice workout since last Tuesday. He'll start against the Coyotes. The other All-Stars, Nicklas Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk, were given the day off.

96warrior 11 Report post Posted January 29, 2008 January 28, Detroit News: "I felt all right," Zetterberg said following practice. "It's been a few days since I've skated. It's definitely going in the right direction. "I kind of held back (at the end of practice) but it's natural to do that with so many days off. If it keeps going the way it's going, I'm real positive about (playing) Wednesday, but we'll make a decision tomorrow (Tuesday) or Wednesday." Babcock said the decision to play will depend on how Zetterberg feels. Nicklas Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk got days off Monday returning from Sunday's All-Star Game in Atlanta, while Chris Osgood chose to practice. Osgood, who'll start Wednesday against Phoenix, said he needed to face shots in a practice setting.

Opie 308 Report post Posted January 29, 2008 Honestly, I don't care if he comes back at all. We all want a tougher Detroit team, but IMO guys like Drake aren't the answer. For the few games I have watched I would rather see Downey out there than I would Drake. In the beginning of the season that wasn't so because I thought Drake would at least be a viable option on the PK and could score a little. Well as it turns out the last place this team needs help on is the PK, this team has got to have the most defensive minded corp of forwards in the league (mad props to Babs). And he cannot score, he has been hurt, and his age appears to be showing. Downey offers at least a threat of physicality, appears to skate better and harder. Hell at this point I think Drake should be sat down and a youngster given a shot at his minutes to develop.
