Emery late for practice once again

A bag of beans would be an upgrade over Kopecky. Maybe we can trade Sammy and Kopecky for McGrattan and Emery? No way the Sens turn that trade down.

As the delusional members here at LGW would say: how could you give up a top 6 forward like Tomas Kopecky for that useless goon McGrattan? ARE YOU INSANE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?1

Sorry, I just had to have fun with that. It's too bad John Ferguson Jr. isn't the GM of the Sens, otherwise we might actually see that trade go down... :D

The worst thing about Kopecky is that he hasn't dropped the gloves since he destroyed Sharp. I jumped out of my chair when that fight happened thinking that we'd see a new, tougher version of Kopecky from then on. Instead, nothing of the sort has happened. His play has gotten a little better, but he's still an expendable 4th liner.

What is it with Sens goalies?

Looks like Emery is a flake

They made Lalime look like the next Patrick Roy and he was a flake

Gerber came in prior to Emery blowing up and he sucked so bad Emery stole the show and took them to a Cup and now Gerber is the stud????

Methinks if i'm a goalie i'm looking to sign with another good team before I throw myself at Ottawa.

Remember the Sens had Dom in there too.....

I think this situation could be quickly resolved. Get ride of Emery as fast as possible. I'd go with Gerber.

I remember watch HNIC about a month into the season. Grapes made a few great points about Gerber. At the time, Emery was still out, and wasn't going to be back anytime soon. Grapes compared Gerber to how good he was with the Canes. He basicly said that Gerber isn't the type of goaltender that responds well to having someone (in this case Emery) 'push' him to play better. Just as Grapes predicted, once Emery came back, Gerber started to stumble.

Give Gerber the number one spot, even if it means demoting Emery.

Senators plan to fine Emery

Goaltender arrived late to practice after All-Star break

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) -- Ottawa Senators goalie Ray Emery will be "fined substantially" by the team after arriving late for a team skate a day after the All-Star game.

Emery's explanation for being 4 minutes late was that he went to Nassau Coliseum for the skate, when it was being held at the Islanders' practice rink Monday afternoon.

"Ray has got to be in uniform with the rest of the team," general manager Bryan Murray said. "This is a uniform league. We have rules, and he has to follow them, just like anyone else."

Murray said Emery will be "fined substantially."

Not as big as it was made out to be according to their personnel, but obviously not Emery's first debacle this year (also said by personnel).

Sens goalie woes

from the Hockey News, a fair assessment of the bind that the Senators find themselves in, re: Emery and Gerber.

I don't feel sorry for Emery at all. He makes the same money in three days that I work for all year, so I am having a tough time working up much sympathy for him. He deserves some consequence for being lazy and irresponsible. It's not like it's the first time. Poor Sens.

Lucky for Emery, the Sens apparently can't move him, or I expect he would be gone already and some other team's problem by now.
