Superman54 91 Report post Posted February 1, 2008 With only 26 days left till the trade deadline I thought it would be wise to open a thread full of trade rumors and speculation till feb 26th....whatever you hear or see please feel free to report everything on here.... Here are some things to kick off.. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=228598&hubname=nhl so it seems pretty official that Forsberg will be heading to a NHL team, in my opinoin I would rather pick up a guy like Sundin (if he is available) for the saftey reasons. I mean you never know with Forsberg and Sundin has been having a hot season...of course getting Forsberg means not givin up any prospects or draft picks..... http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=228598&hubname=nhl To be honest with you I think Sundin will waive his no trade clause for another team. He knows it would help the leafs and deep down inside he wants that cup before retirment. I think he is trying to prove his loyalness toward his club which is a great quality, but something tells me his leaf days are numbered..
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted February 1, 2008 I think two players could really help the Wings. J.P Dumont and Rob Blake. Blake is great D depth, and Dumont is just the secondary scoring I think we need - and we won't have to give up as much for him as we would for a Sundin or Hossa. Then again, if we could nab Forsberg, that would be nice too.

Superman54 91 Report post Posted February 1, 2008 I would love to see Blake come here. I think he brings size and grit which is exactly what the Wings need... Unfortuantly I do not know too well how Dumount is doing but its very true that we would not be losing much getting him here....
SwedeLundin77 460 Report post Posted February 1, 2008 Dumont has something like 45 points right now and is currently on the longest point streak in the NHL (I think 15 games). Dumont has been streaky for Nashville, but I do think, like most players, he could thrive in Detroit. I remember we almost got him a couple of seasons ago but Nashville swooped in at the last minute with a better deal. I would love to have Dumont here. I also think someone like Mike Fisher would be cool, but Ottawa won't give him up. There is also a few secondary scorers with Buffalo we could possibly get. I know that Holland and the Buffalo GM are good friends (Hasek trade). I think a few players we should look at on their team are Kotalik, Hecht, Roy, Afinogenov (having a horrible season, but I think he could turn it around with the right surroundings). I think we could get Afinogenov for cheap and that he could be a good secondary scorer, he has great speed and a good touch around the net. On defense, I think Blake is a good choice for depth and would be an upgrade over someone in our 6. Proabably Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall, Blake, Lilja, Chelios/Lebda. I also think we should try and acquire Boyle from Tampa. He has been hurt so far this year, but I believe he is a pretty darn good, young d-man. I wouldn't mind seeing Fedorov back here as a second liner..... I would like to see what he could do with Datsyuk centering him. Just a thought - I know (crazy!) I don't see the Predators trading him (Dumont) within their division; especially to the Wings.......Most of these players you mention have a big price tag, especially when Ken Holland is involved. Fedorov has been out with a concussion, I think we'll pass on that one .

I think if anyone comes from Buffalo it could be Campbell. They are having tremoundas trouble finding the right contract for him last time I heard, and Campbell fits well with what the Wings are going with. Of course my prediction is a stretch but ya just never know....Personally Id like to see Hecht, huge stretch but it would be sweet to have a German Thunder with the Wings! up2here 41 Report post Posted February 1, 2008 I dont have a problem with Blake coming here at all as long as Filppula,Kindl or Kronwall arent one of the young players going the other way.

Just a thought - I know (crazy!) wow that is just sick .. feds-dats-fil homer-z-clears huds-franzen-sammy malts-drappes-drake feds would have so many chances to bury the puck with fil n dats setting him up.. could even throw him on the 2nd pp unit if blake doesnt come over

Nashville somehow thinks were rivals, and generally they don't trade players who are performing well and still ahve years on their contract. Dan Boyle is exactly what the wings DONT need. A undersized Offensive defensemen. Rafalski kronwall and lebda already fill that roll, with the two former doing a much better job.
Bren4Wings 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2008 Supposedly Nashville is working on a long-term extension for Dumont. Word is, that there is a press conference scheduled for noon announcing Dumont extension done---somewhere around 4 yrs 16 mil is being rumored.
Bren4Wings 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2008 JP Dumont is French-Canadian Make it happen Kenny The Preds are not going to trade someone they just signed and extended by 4 yrs.
Rice 42 Report post Posted February 1, 2008 I'm guessing the Wings will get a guy who is off the radar for the most part. This is not to say they won't get a big name player, but I bet they will be looking for more than a rental this time around.
Superman54 91 Report post Posted February 1, 2008 http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2008/02/mc...likely_des.html Im glad Kenny wouldnt take a risk like that on Forsberg, waaaaay too much injury history to take a risk like that

That statement is just Mckeon's opinion. If it ment between winning or not winning the cup this year, Kenny WILL take that risk.

Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 2, 2008 The Kings are asking a roster player, a first-round pick, and a top prospect in exchange for Blake. That's not worth it for the Wings.
Guest Agalloch Report post Posted February 2, 2008 The Kings are asking a roster player, a first-round pick, and a top prospect in exchange for Blake. That's not worth it for the Wings. ... That's ridiculous. Blake is mediocre at best now, and that's why I don't even want him. Add another first to that package above and you can get Hossa. Switch out that extra first for a later draft pick/low level prospect and you can have Sundin. The Kings are ******* stupid. I don't know why Dustin Brown signed that huge extension either, he deserves to be with a non s***ty franchise, and dserves more money than he's getting.
