96warrior 11 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 Kronwall out till the 'end of the month?' Posted by George James Malik February 06, 2008 15:42PM Bad news from DetroitRedWings.com's Ryan Doehrty: February 6, DetroitRedWings.com: I just talked with Niklas Kronwall and he told me he's feeling a little better, but he's not able to shoot the puck yet. He's able to stick handle side to side, but when he extends his arms out in front of him to shoot he feels quite a bit of discomfort in his clavicle. He said if everything continues to improve, he expects to be back on the ice before the end of this month. He should be back before the end of February, Wings' medical staff permitting, but if this doesn't cement the concept that the Wings need to acquire a depth defenceman or two, I don't know what does. GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 (edited) We need to just assume Kronwall will be hurt during the playoffs at some point. I know, I know, the injuries aren't his fault, but how much is enough? We can't afford to play short on defense again this post-season. I would say a top-four, or at the least, a depth defenseman is a must-have at the deadline. Whether it be Blake, Stuart, Foote, or any other rumored name, somebody needs to be brought in. Kronwall had been playing at his highest level ever, but what does that matter if/when he gets hurt in the playoffs? Can he be put on IR already so I don't have to cut him from my fantasy team... grrrr Selfish rant over Seriously, he seperated his shoulder. Trust me, from personal experience, 7-10 days is no where near enough time. I played with my injury, but I could hardly pass and shooting was out of the question. It was the end of the season, so I figured what the hell, it can't get any worse. After the season was over, I had to sit out the entire summer baseball league because it took about 6 weeks to heal enough for me to be able to swing a bat. I was out a total of about 12 weeks with the injury. Mine was a bit worse than Kronwall's, but he is a professional athlete getting top notch medical support. Yup i could barely hold the stick with mine... i took about a month and half before i could move around without any pain what so ever. i thought 7-10 was a ***** of a pipe dream. Dem da breaks.... or seperates in this case. Edited February 7, 2008 by OsGOD

He's taking a valuable roster spot that would be taken by a substandard D-man if I cut him. Plus, I'd forget about him when he's healed and not add him back onto my team until he's on somebody else's team. I'm so not looking forward to my upcoming shoulder (genetic) problems. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 I hope that he's taking all these skating practices in a padded room somewhere, because I'm worried that he'll get hurt in practice somehow. He's like one of those people who have been struck by lightning on several occasions. s*** out of luck.
