Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/ana080208.html The Anaheim Ducks appear to be the frontrunners to acquire Los Angeles Kings defenseman Rob Blake, reports the Windsor Star. The Detroit Red Wings are also believed to be heavily interested in Blake, however citing "highly-placed league sources," the Star claims the Ducks will obtain him before the Feb. 26 trade deadline. While Blake is currently suffering from a non-displaced fracture of the left ankle, the Wings may not be willing to pay the right for him. According to the paper, the Kings are looking for an NHL-level player, a top prospect and a high draft pick. Blake, 38, is making $6 million this season and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1. If the Wings cannot get their hands on Blake, the Star suggests they'll pursue a depth defenseman. The Ducks, on the other hand, appear willing to pay the price in order to defend their title as champions. I'm not sure about this one - what do you think guys? [/i] I don't want to give up that much for a 38 year old that most likely would sign elsewhere in the off-season. But at the same time we need some depth and size, damn it! edicius 3,269 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 I highly doubt those claims. The Kings aren't going to deal with the Ducks any more than the Wings will deal with, say, Nashville.

DRW Dominance 255 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 This rumour is gaining steam only because how close the teams are situated. I agree that no way LA makes this trade with Anaheim.
Nev 1,085 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 I thought Anaheim were in Salary Cap Hell? Blake will have still have $1M+ on his contract this year.
Grim 5 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 the Ducks are just posturing... to ensure Blake doesn't land in SJ or Detroit cheaply.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 9, 2008 Is there one player the Ducks haven't been rumored of getting? Pretty soon we'll se a topic on how the Ducks are rumored to get Crosby or Lecavalier. It's getting ridiculous to think they could have that much money left under the cap. Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted February 9, 2008 http://www.spectorshockey.net/index.php?op...rs&Itemid=9 WINDSOR STAR: Bob Duff reports"high-placed league sources" claim Anaheim is where LA Kings defenceman Rob Blake will be dealt by the trade deadline. We need more depth, size and grit for sure... I don't know what is asking price for Jokinen - but that would be HUGE addition to the Wings. Is it possible - who knows? Jokinen is available. What do you think about Erskine? Guy is HUGE and is solid def. I think that he could help us against Perry, Getzlaf, Bertuzzi and cie... I'm not sure that Lebda will be able to move those guys... Erskine for Lebda. Gaustad - don't know if he's on the block - Sabres aren't in playoff picture - Gretzky was traded - maybe we could get him - Sammy or Franzen for Gaustad. You want fast, big, gritty center that can kill penalties, hit, drop the gloves... Gaustad is our man. Finally - we could really use Malone - no need to say why - Hudler for Malone Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Homer Malone - Jokinen/Fillpula - Cleary Maltby - Draper - McCarty Sammy/Franzen - Gaustad - Downey/Drake Lidstrom - Rafalski Kronwall - Chelios Lilja - Erskine Hasek / Ozzy Your thoughts??? GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 9, 2008 I'd love to get Erskine, but I don't see Washington making this trade. Erskine has been solid for them and has been a regular ever since he joined their team.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted February 9, 2008 I definitely like your line of thinking Dominator. However, Gaustad's not going to be had for Franzen or Sammy, Gaustad is what everyone wishes Franzen was....so that makes no sense for Buffalo to do that. Sammy definitely not. Jokinen is completely out of the picture in my opinion, we dont have the resources in terms of prospects to even get in the running. Erskine im sure could be had, but he's just not the type of guy the Wings would go after....it sucks, but thats reality with our club. Hudler for Malone is a trade i brought up back when Hudler was on his hot streak, but unfortunately Hudler's value is dropping further and further as we speak. Theres still a small chance that could happen i guess, but the more Malone plays tough like he's been doing and the more Hudler doesnt score at all makes it less and less likely. Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 No way in hell will they get him, like was said before, they just want to jack up the price because Burke is an ass hole who would do that s***. I think all this talk of Detroit not being interested is Holland not getting caught up in the game. He will wait till the last minute and make a decent pitch, one that may be the best when you factor in we don't play in the same time zone as them. Or we land Stuart instead..... Grim 5 Report post Posted February 12, 2008 Who wouldn't waive their no trade for Detroit? Redden wouldn't. The Sens are genuine contenders in a supersoft Eastern conference.

theman19 47 Report post Posted February 12, 2008 I will be very tempted to boycott the stanley cup playoffs (i won't do it mind you, i love my wings to much) if in this "Cap era" that we lost an entire season of hockey for,.. the ducks can have a top 4 D of Neidaweiner-Pronger Schinder-Blake. Seriously, if they land blake for like huskins and some mid level prospect i'm going to vomit.
