haha look at kane, hes so small

Good player though... for someone so young. But yeah with the stick salute... would be nice but better to think of something original. Maybe include something that not many other places have got... like the playoff banners or something... could point at them like they point to the bleachers in baseball before a homerun.... or is that just lame? I dunno... but maybe if they think of something of their own it would be cool to watch and may attract the crowd.

I like the stick salute. Great way for them to thank the fans.

But... Detroit should do something original, like you said. My idea is that they pick a Wings player each home game, and that player sings the national anthem.

Maybe it would be a good idea in places like Florida, or Nashvile where they really want to show appreciations for fans who come to the game but Wings already know they are being loved so I don't think it is a good idea because it wouldn't have the same sincere feeling.

Little more emotion or appreciation during 3 star announcement would be a good idea though.

The fans have to fill the arena and actually make noise during the game to get a stick salute. The players should go to a sports bar and salute those hardcore fans after the game.

Agreed - no salute if the stands aren't full and no cheering.

Yeah, I think they are better off coming up with something new. Lmao, like running through the crowd (joke). How about one team member finds an area where the net doesn't cover the glass and throwing their jersey out.

Nah, that would cause a huge mob and the jersey would most likely end up ripped. But it would still be sick.

Why don't we get a little bit more European while were at it

*barfs*

What in the hell does that have to do with saluting the crowd???

I for one think it is a great idea if saved for the right time. End of the season/playoffs, done as an appreciation for something the fans did. Not something that is orchestrated and phony!

I would rather the Red Wings salute us fans by skating around the ice in June with the Stanley Cup. Just a thought... :thumbs-up:

word

I like it when the soccer players do it, and I agree that IF hockey teams do it, it better be in front of a full home crowd. It shows some class.

While this is in no defense of Candaian Wings, I would assume he's referring to the way Soccer Clubs salute their home crowd after a game in Europe. It's pretty common (thanks to my little brother, I actually know that--thanks Greg).

Wow people.....its not as if the Wings are changing their team name, logo and colors to match the Rags. They're just saluting the crowd and thanking them for showing support. If the crowd is there and does their part I see nothing wrong with the players recognizing it and throwing a shout out to them.

Perhaps it is a "Euro"-tradition. Don't really see why that would make it a bad thing. Ok if you think it's silly or childish, but calling it bad just because it's Euro just makes you sound kind of <insert condescending word of your own choice>. Don't really think you're that but then again, I might be wrong.
