Modry traded to Philly for a 3rd round pick. Im guessin this either ends speculation that Kaberle is coming, or it means that Jason Smith (as rumored) is on his way out.

Either way, Im glad Detroit isnt getting Modry now.

Oh, forgot to add this:

The Flyers had some interest in Kings defenseman Brad Stuart but general manager Dean Lombardi does not appear willing to trade him.

I dont buy for a second that LA isnt willing to trade him. Looks like Lombardi is trying to drive up Stuart's asking price more than anything. My guess is the LA wants D prospects, and Philly doesn't have any they can afford to give up. Advantage Detroit if you ask me..

Now that LA is starting to throw things overboard. Let the games begin.

They were talking on NHL Radio this morning that Hatcher was injured, not sure how severe or for how long. They were pretty vague when they announced it. Price just went up on Stuart people......

I'd say Meech and a 2nd round pick would get Stuart, if a 3rd rounder got Modry.

Stuart isn't all that better then Modry

How bout a 2nd & a mid level prospect.

I'm with you. With the way people have been suggesting most trade proposals "won't be enough to land X player", you'd almost expect Modry to have landed a lower tier prospect as well.

I don't think many GMs are throwing their cards out on the table right now. In fact, I would bet that if Holland and Lombardi have discussed Stuart at all, Holland hasn't suggested hes willing to offer anything more than a pick, as most other GMs probably are too. GMs know its better to start the bidding out low and wait to pull out your blue chips until later in the game. Philly made this move cause they really needed to, and even still they didn't shell out the assets.

idk i still kind of think a 2nd round pick and meech is a little too much for stuart i'd say either one or the other it seems like stuart was more of a hitter and an agitator with calgary than he is with LA.

Hes had to play a bigger role on LA than he did with Calgary. He'd be Detroits #4, which is exactly the position he should be in. And he'd definitely be asked to focus on staying home, clearing the net, and playing the body, so he the motivation would be there. Although I do agree that his "nastiness" is overrated.

Very true...if we were to trade for him he would definitely have to bring that nastiness back we need that for sure, i wouldn't mind seeing him here just as long as he brings that grit with him oh and gets rid of those highlights he has in his hair :scared:

That is definitely a rip off for LA. I mean, he's no Lidstrom but come on....a 3rd rounder??!?! Lombardi has thrown his team in the gutter and seems intent on keeping them there.

At least the trade feasting is starting off cheap, unlike last year.

Good trade by LA tbh..

They get a 3rd rounder.. Probaly will end up calling a rookie to gain nhl exp.

and Modry is a UFA, The kings probaly know Modry has a good shot of returning, or they must of not really wanted him..
