Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 LOL no way. 1.Ducks/WINGS 3.Stars 4.Avs The way Sportsnet is talking, that's how it is. Wings are spiraling down and the Ducks were already the faves. So Dallas and Colorado are are the better teams with the amount of talent they have added. ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I consider this worse than the year of Cory Cross. We highly needed a scorer. how the hell could he over look this?!?!? Wasn't picking up a top 6 forward at the deadline Holland's excuse for not picking up one in the off-season!? I just dont get it.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 What absolutely baffles me is that Holland specifically saved that cap room for deadline acquisitions. Oh well.
lets go pavel 2 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Maybe not but they already sold their team away and the playoff hopes with it... i don't see why that would really make a difference. Hell its not like he couldn't sign as a FA in the off season with us. They could have taken a pretty decent player from us for him this season instead of a scrub from the Caps this season. they gave up foote with his 15 points and fedorov who has been injured ... i would hardly call that selling away the team, more like getting rid of some older players/bigger salaries who they didn't see fitting in the team's future ... That's easy to say but we're not rival division GM's fronting rival teams. It's probably not a big deal for us to just say who cares the BJ's are out of it but probably a much bigger deal if your the BJ's GM. He probably can't wash his hands of it as easily as we can as fans.

Yeah, getting Guerin in the summer would'nt have been such a bad deal afterall. He better keep Cleary now.

lets go pavel 2 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 What absolutely baffles me is that Holland specifically saved that cap room for deadline acquisitions. Oh well. yeah, but the issue was never cap room ... the question was were we willing to give up what others were asking ... holland said it all depended on whether the prices were right, i guess they weren't for the pieces he wanted ... Sergeiwasmyfav 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I wish we had picked up another forward, someone tough who could also contribute offensively, but alas, it was not to be. Stuart is a good acquisition, and hopefully he will help us out. I think the Wings can still win the Cup this season, but in order to do so, every single player is going to have to be at their best. That is the only way we will beat some of the other teams in the West. I hope everyone decides to show up.

gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 For those still upset about Fedorov, consider that it's true that it wasn't going to cost much to get him, so if you're the Blue Jackets and you're not going to get much for him, are you going to trade him to someone in your division or someone in the East? It's most likely as simple as that. Without overpaying, there's probably nothing Holland could do.
Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Does anyone know where I can apply for the GM job? I'll work for 1/10 what Holland makes and will do a much better job.

StevieY9802 6 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I love how people think because he didn't add a foward that Holland didn't know that they were stuggling with the offense. Yes because you know more than the GM of the Detroit Red Wings. Again this is not xbox or ps2/3 where you pick up who you want. I'm glad he didn't bet the farm on a rental. And just because Meech and Ericsson have played pretty good doesn't mean the Wings were ready fort hem to step in during the playoffs. Just wait till the playoffs people. Feb 26th is not the day the Cup is awarded. If the Wings don't win the cup they still have a good team that they can add to with the money they have for next year. I would rather see this team good for a long time then give up a lot for a "big run" now.

cirov19 1 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Maybe Holland could come on this forum occasionally and read what the people who know what they're talking about are thinking. I am not including myself in that lol. That way we would b a) happy and b) only able to blame ourselves. Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
