Maybe Holland could come on this forum occasionally and read what the people who know what they're talking about are thinking. I am not including myself in that lol.

That way we would b a) happy and b) only able to blame ourselves.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Who says he doesn't?

I love how people think because he didn't add a foward that Holland didn't know that they were stuggling with the offense. Yes because you know more than the GM of the Detroit Red Wings. Again this is not xbox or ps2/3 where you pick up who you want. I'm glad he didn't bet the farm on a rental. And just because Meech and Ericsson have played pretty good doesn't mean the Wings were ready fort hem to step in during the playoffs. Just wait till the playoffs people. Feb 26th is not the day the Cup is awarded. If the Wings don't win the cup they still have a good team that they can add to with the money they have for next year. I would rather see this team good for a long time then give up a lot for a "big run" now.

He wouldn't have had to give up the farm to get Prospal. Hossa, I agree. He would've been really nice, but Pitt gave up quite a bit to get him, not sure we could've matched that. But we could've easily matched/bettered that offer for Prospal and he would've helped us.

It's unreal that we couldn't even get a Fedorov or Fedotenko at the deadline. When your team is this close to winning a Cup you have to take a chance. You can't be scared off deadline deals because Shawn Matthias MIGHT turn into a decent player.

We're half-assing it. Maybe we'll end up winning. Maybe not. But we didn't maximize our chance to have a successful run. At least we kept Justin Abdelkader

I, for one, can't wait to see Holland's post-deadline comments.

"Well uh...we had a price we were willing to pay and we couldn't...uhh...find anyone else that made sense for us. We didn't want anyone with term. We didn't want to give away any of our top prospects. I like our team. And uhh...term. Term. Term. Term."

I think some people are over reacting here, this team was by far the best in the league when it is healthy and when our defense gets rebuilt I don't see why that changes, every team goes through slumps, hopefully getting Stuart will address our banged up D-corps and I believe he will as I think he has a lot of potential for being better than a #4 D-man and I hope we can keep him for next year. I'm glad we didn't do anything to shake up the group of guys we have now.

We were the best team in the league up until February. Then Anaheim picked up Selanne and Niedermayer, and Colorado picked up Forsberg, Foote and Salei (and all the injuries that have plagued their entire season are ending), and Dallas and San Hose each added depth.

We didn't improve very much, whereas the next best in the league did.

Agree, I just wish we got some players for back up. This last Month sucks on the Wings score board.

A lot of teams have made that mistake unfortunately.

He does improve our defense corps. He's better than Lilja and Meech for sure. But I don't like going into the playoffs with Samuelsson, and injured Cleary, a guy who has been invisible for the better part of a month and a half, and a guy we were scared to play in road playoff games (Hudler) as part of the 7 best forwards on the team.

It's unreal we didn't get a forward. I don't even know how that's possible.

Sounds good. Probably throw in that he feels with the team that they have they can still compete. Which is true to an extent, but whatever, not adding anyone to a lackluster offense is ridiculous. The injuries make it even more apparent that the O is a problem.

I know when I get off at 5 the beer I have at home is going to taste damn good.

True, but think about how far we were ahead at the time before this debacle of a month happened, I have been worried about the Ducks ever since I heard they got those two back, regardless of what the Wings did, after all they are the defending champs. I honestly don't think Colorado will be a threat unless we are in 2000, the Stars...... meh, ya Richards was dynamite in their Cup but they also gave up some damn good players in return.

I understand that it hasn't been an issue most of the year and it probably won't as the season winds down and I'm not worried at all about Babcock revealing a very different Red Wings for the playoffs.

Bulls***, secondary scoring has been sporadic all year except for Cleary. It's just that primary scoring was so awesome no one bitched. On the plus side at least we are going to be a little tougher on the blueline, but I really don't think D is the issue.

lol wings_dynasty..

obviously you would be pissed, because you wanted hossa more than anybody on here. i wanted him waaaaaay bad too.

i'm starting to think holland did the right thing not getting him because atlanta took WAY too much for him.

But come on? we need a scorer? We have two people in the top 10 points... as soon as we get our defence back things will be back to normal.

As soon as Lidstrom can come and set up Hank/Pav we're good. They've let us through the whole season. Just pray to God the injuries stop here.

I agree. But I think there should be some concern with our scoring for the post season. Just like last year, we'll have to split up Hank and Dats on the road while at home we'll be praying for one of our 3rd and 4th liners to bang one in once in a while.

And when you consider how much easier it is to learn a players tendancies when playing multiple games in a row, you can see how it's possible that our regular season offensive firepower can be tamed.

We're no different than other teams in that if you shut down our top line, we can be stopped. But it would have been nice to add at least one top 6 forward to help shoulder the load when Hank and Dats are being shadowed all night.

I don't think Filpulla is even close to being ready to anchor a #2 line in the playoffs.

Hopefully Babcock keeps Dats and Zetts separated as much as possible to get them used to what's coming in 6 weeks.

He'll also throw in a lie or two and dodge the question when someone asks him where's the top six forward he's been saying we need. What a joke.

I can't believe he's spooked on deadline deals because one guy we gave up turned into a great OHL player. He could've gotten Prospal without any trouble.

I mean, I hope like hell that Flip snaps out of it, Cleary comes back healthy, and Hudler proves to be capable in the playoffs...but it's hard to see us coming through the West with the 2-4th lines the way they are right now.

Stuart helps a little, but he doesn't fix the hole on this team.
