It's 5 am, and all this talk about a Red Wing third jersey just scares me, but if we HAD to get one, i wouldn't mind seeing something like this, and I know, my photoshop skills diminish after 3AM haha.

Wow, forget that your photoshop skills diminish after 3 am.

I love this. Kind of retro/vintage look, and IMO the laces make it look sick.

It still keeps the simple Red Wings look, and it looks awesome. If something that looked similar to this came out I would buy it instantly.

so the NHL boots them for a year just to let them back in?

that makes no sense. i like the idea of a 3rd jersey.... just not for the Wings

I believe it was a marketing/production thing. Allow RBK enough time to produce a surplus of the mains then add in the alternates.

This is my favorite third jersey of all time.

I was also thinking about something. I think the NHL could really get some great PR from this.

Instead of just using pink sticks to raise money for breast cancer awareness, why not go the whole nine yards and have each team wear a special pink uni? It would obviously have to be something that would allow players to decipher who is on who's team during play, but I think it would be a great way to generate a ton of positive talk about the NHL.

I wouldn't hold my breath on a Wings 3rd jersey. The only time we've ever had a true alternate was in the 91-92 season when the league mandated (please take note of this) that the Original 6 teams should wear a retro jersey for the NHL's 75th anniversary.

I said take note of the league mandate, because as long as the Ilitch family owns the Wings, you're not going to see a 3rd jersey, barring the NHL requiring the change. The Wings have had (mostly, a few minor tweaks such as the reverse colored logos) the same jersey since the 1948-1949 season. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

One more note... Laces on a Wings jersey? PLEASE. The Wings have NEVER had laces. No need to start now...

May I make a suggestion? Try adding 3 thin stripes @ the bottom of the jersey instead of the 1 solid/thick white stripe that we're used to seeing...That may look "better", or at least more symetrical with the 3 stripes on the sleeves.

How about one of these (I'm not quite sure what you meant so these are my interpretations)

I like those... they look pretty sweet.

What are we getting for our third jerseys then? Considering we have the most simple jersey's in the league is there even anything. How about those sick striped ones, hahaha.

If there is such thing as a loving and merciful God, the words "Red Wings" and "third jersey" will never, ever be mentioned in the same sentence except as linked with the words "do not have a".

No third jersey for the Wings. Ever.

Going to stick with exhibit A ..

The others make it look like there is too much going on on the sweater.

Orrr, if you raised the one stripe at the waist so you could see a bit of red underneath it.

Here is something to think about.

What if for a Wings 3rd jersey, they also had an alternate logo on the chest, and the Winged wheel on the shoulders?

It'd be cool if it just said Detroit eh.

Somebody photoshop that.

Do like a straight print, and another curved.

If you have the time and/or want to.

I really don't care, but am kind of curious what it would look like.

why not have the winged wheel that says hockey town on the jersey, like the one in the middle of the Joe.

not that I want it to happen, I just want to see what it would look like.

wingsthirdaltlogodetroiip5.jpg or wingsthirdaltlogo2detrokn0.jpg?

Those are beautiful!!!

I really like the old english d.

The only thing I would do different is make the sleeves more like the standard jerseys with one white stripe, and put red numbers inside of it.
