The best thing about that brawl... FORSBERG AND LARIONOV STARTED IT ALL.

Hahaha.

err... not quite

Forsberg started it (unnecessary punches to Larionov)...got beaten up by Igor and didn't return to the game :!

...11 years, wow! Hard To Believe! Proud to say I was in attendance that night. When the brawl brokeout, the Wings were losing and I can remember me and my buddy both saying, we don't even care if the Wings lose this game it has been the absolute best game we've ever been to. Period.

...This is the type of team the Wings need now. A Scotty Bowman built team... :hehe:

I can't believe it's been 11 years since that all happened. It feels like it was so recent... I don't know why, but it does. I, and pretty much every Wings fan, will never forget that night. I absolutley loved watching our boys kick the s*** out of that stupid idiot team in Colorado. McCarty vs. Claudia, Vernon vs. Patricia, Shanny vs. Patricia... wow, those were really some great battles!

I love that video, by the way. It has all the fights, and it's a perfect song to go with it. Filter is a great band, so naturally it would fit so well with such a good video.

Agreed on the chills. I must have watched this video over a hundred times over the years and it never, ever gets old. Any youngsters that wonder why us old folks are so psyched about Mac coming back need only watch that video and have someone who was around for it explain the story behind each and every punch.

Something I just noticed that I really have to give a hand to the maker of the video for is the moment when Mac is fighting Deadmarsh. Obviously, Deadmarsh was doing what he should have, which was to try and send a message to McCarty about the way he manhandled Turtle. Mac says "I hear you, but I'm not listening," in true #25 form.... anyway, the lyrics at that point of the video are something like:

"You'd fight and you were right, but they were just too strong."

Awesome.

Another thing I've noticed is that very few people mention what McCarty did to Claude after he turtled, and its symbolic significance... note that after the turtle pose, Mac picks him up and skates him over the bench, smashing his head into the boards a few times. It's not the exact spot, but damned close to where Draper took his hit.

I can almost hear him asking Yertle "how do YOU like it?" I've wondered for years if this was a conscious thing or if he was just trying to get away from the refs and beat on him some more.

EDIT: Typo

...remember, this is McCarty from 11 years ago! I will put up the same argument that everyone else does about Fedorov. He is not the player he once was and for anyone who thinks that he is gonna come in and play like he did 11 years ago, they got a rude awaking coming! He is washed up, a virtual shadow of his former self. One thing Fedorov has over McCarty, at least he hasn't been out of hockey for nearly 2 years!

...all this man-love for an over the hill McCarty, whats the difference between him coming back and Fedorov coming back? Oh, McCarty didn't leave as a free agent (only after the Wings offered him less money than 4 months prior) so that makes him better than Fedorov at this point in their careers. Fedorov is a back stabber who left us, oh, BOO HOO! Save the rhetoric!

...before the boo birds come out, I am just as excited to see McCarty as everyone else, but I am man enough to admit that I would be stoked if Fedorov came back as a UFA... Fedorov at 38 years old is better than McCarty EVER was and still better than HALF the Wings forwards...

...I just think the double standard is hilarious!

...heres to McCarty coming back strong and helping the Wings and heres to Fedorov signing July 1st!
