SwedeLundin77 460 Report post Posted March 24, 2008 Every year, I participate in that superstition of not shaving once the playoffs begin. I was curious as to how many others of you do the same thing? It has been something I've done since, well, since i've been able to grow a beard (haha). I firmly believe in the superstition that it's good luck, but maybe we need to get a rally going here. I propose that those on here reading this that do not participate in this, should try it this year. We need to get as many people on board as possible. Hey, the St Louis Cardinal fans did it a few years back when they won the world series, so why not get it going here, give it a try! Let me know what you think, i'm sure it's probably lame to some, but for the die-hard hockey fan - it has to be something of interest! April 10th, No more shaving! GO RED WINGS! BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted March 24, 2008 I've been able to grow a beard since the year after the Wings won the cup in '02. Yeah, that has been working well for me.
Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted March 24, 2008 I will probably do it this season. I haven't done it since I've been able to grow one and the Wings haven't won a Cup. So, in my superstitious head, if I were to do it that is the clincher and the Wings win the Cup.
Opie 308 Report post Posted March 24, 2008 WOW, while I am old enough to have been able to grow a beard before the first of the recent cups, I still can't. Damn patchy beard with hair not growing in, in places.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted March 24, 2008 (edited) There are a lot of members here that do grow a beard, and last year there was even a thread to post your playoff beard pics. It was pretty entertaining to see as the month and a half wore on. WOW, while I am old enough to have been able to grow a beard before the first of the recent cups, I still can't. Damn patchy beard with hair not growing in, in places. Welcome to my world. Edited March 24, 2008 by Never Forget Mac #

Mine's probably even worse, actually. And the other day I found a grey whisker. I'm getting grey hairs in my beard and I still can't even grow a decent one?!?! Legendary D In 03 50 Report post Posted March 24, 2008 I usually shave the day before the playoffs start because I always have a beard. I like to grow a *fresh* playoff beard. Word, LDi03

edicius 3,269 Report post Posted March 24, 2008 (edited) Welcome to my world. Me too, sort of. Mine ends up looking more like super-stubble, I suppose. But I do it every year anyway. Much to my wife's chagrin. I don't think I joined in with the photos last year, but I shall this time around. Edited March 24, 2008 by edicius

GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted March 24, 2008 My beard grows very fast, so after a week I'd have a lot of facial hair, and after 2 weeks I'd have a full beard. After 2 months, God knows what. Thus, I decided many years ago that I wouldn't grow any playoff beard.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted March 24, 2008 (edited) This playoffs I think all the Wings players should grow Hulk Hogan moustaches. I'd just be happy if Lilja did it. Opie 308 Report post Posted March 24, 2008 (edited) hey op, is that a kegerator in your av?? Yes sir, with 2 kegs of homebrew. Right now I have a Red Ale with Oak chips (brewed with oak not oak still in the beer) and and IPA that is my own little taste of heaven, !! EDIT: EDICUS< Lilja looks like a bad ass cowboy gun slinger in that, almost like Kevin Costner's Wyatt Earp, not Kurt Russell's Wyatt! Guest Hank=FutureCaptain Report post Posted March 24, 2008 I usually do a playoff beard as well. But this year I already have a beard at this point. So I guess the only way I could do it is if I shave the night before the playoffs start, and re-grow this bad boy out.

hardcoretom21 71 Report post Posted March 24, 2008 One question for you all though.. What does your employer think of the beard? Does it still look professionally presentable? Because that's my problem. As a physiotherapist or a pharmacist there's no way you can get away with a playoff beard.. I'm not a geologist anymore
