chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 The Ducks are now down 2-0 to Dallas after losing the first two on home ice. They are not losing on unlucky bounces but are getting whipped. 4-0 and 5-2. The bugaboo is lack of scoring as it has been all year. 1.5 GFA in the first 2 games. Can they come back. Yes, but it is not likely. They would have to win 4 of the next 5 with 3 of those in Dallas. And they are not playing well so this would have to be a complete reversal. For all of the people that have been saying "the Ducks are built for the playoffs" and ignoring the gaping hole that is their lack of scoring, I just have to say. I told you so. Man that felt good. Sorry.....hehehehehe
Creasemonkey 30 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 Detroit went down 2-0 to Vancouver in a series once not so long ago, and a lucky goal changed everything. Relax. Don't jinx it.

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 Not to nitpick, but Anaheim has a 1.0 GFA over the first two games. 0 Goals in Game 1, 2 Goals in Game 2. 2 Goals/2 Games = 1.0 GFA.

IceMunkee 15 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 Detroit went down 2-0 to Vancouver in a series once not so long ago, and a lucky goal changed everything. Relax. Don't jinx it. True, but Detroit is the only team to do that in history. (I think) If not entirely then for 20 years or more. Also another fun fact, since 2000 there has not been a Stanley Cup Champ that made it past the first round. Just a fun tid bit of nonsense that bears no real logical reason on the Ducks drowning. Anyhow my concern is if this series does not go 6-7, imagine the confidence Dallas will have. Yikes!

I still doubt that the Ducks will win four straight against the Stars though.

irishtemper14+25 11 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 haha the only reason they can win is if they run into a team with a terrible powerplay when they play (hence wings-schneid and krons)...so they play a good dallas team and cant stop taking the penalties they always take so they lose
thedisappearer 291 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 No sweep! We may get the winner of that series, and I don't want them to be well rested at all. Go 7, go Dallas!
stevie for president 42 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 in the nhl, 20 teams took the 1st 2 games on the road in round 1. 8 of them won game 3 and 13 won the round. for any round when the road team goes up 2-0, 33 of 65 won game 3 and 49 of 65 won the series. going up 2-0 in the first round regardless of home ice advantage happened 78 times. 35 times the team up 2-0 won the third game and 65 times they won the series. and of course in any round when either team goes up 2-0, 149/280 (53.2%) went up 3-0 and 243 (86.8%) won the series. source: http://www.whowins.com/tables/up20.html

I still doubt that the Ducks will win four straight against the Stars though. I think he meant Detroit was the only team to come back from losing their first two games in Round 1 on the road to win the Cup. Only six other times has a team lost both 1 and 2 at home in Round one and still won the ROUND, let alone the Cup. EDIT: One of those six occurences was 1992, when Detroit went down 2-0 and 3-1 vs Minnesota before securing the series in seven games. Perhaps the closest a team has ever come to being swept and still winning the series, as Detroit's game 3 victory was almost a defeat as well. VladyIBELIEVE16 257 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 i heard they got booed off the ice by their own fans after the last game. haa-ha! Yup they did. EastLansingNative and I scored free tickets 2 hours before the game last night. We both went wearing wings hats/ me with a wings hoodie and him in his east lansing - coral gables green shirt. It was GREAT to watch them lose. They may have the capability to win...but they aren't using it. They can't really put much together and they look SLOPPY. They are getting penalties left and right and if you think they are going to step it up and win in Dallas -you're mistaken. Classless fans screaming "REFS YOU SUCK" and Booing their Stanley Cup Champ team makes me really angry. Here's to the ducks going out! GO DALLAS!!!!
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 It ain't over til it's over. I'm likin' what I see, but half the battle still remains, and those are the hardest ones to win.
Guest ForeChecK Report post Posted April 13, 2008 I hope that the Ducks make a comeback and extend the series i dont want Dallas to have an easy way out. Heck maybe Anaheim will goon it up. hell or even win. I would rather play the Ducks than the Stars. And if we do have to play the Stars i pray that the Ducks goon it up and make it so the stars are more then just bruised and batterd.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 2002 we went down 0-2 to Vancouver, and we all know what happened after that. However, Dallas is an excellent team. I doubt Anaheim comes back, but you never know.

Now down 2 games I think they'll try to hit even more and it'll be their direct route to being swept - I hope. Edited April 13, 2008 by shorthanded
