And I'm not counting them out of the series or anything. But to blow the lead twice, the last time with just a few minutes to go, to the 8th seed? Yep, I'm pissed. I don't know what Lilja was doing on the fourth goal but they've gotta stop letting the Preds score in bunches. I am staying away from this place till after Wednesday nights game (which the Wings will win) because there are going to be at least 3 threads full of people jumping off the bandwagon. We blew a two goal lead Saturday and got away with it. We blew a 2 goal lead tonight. We then gave up 2 goals in nine seconds. It's certainly cause for concern. Seedless 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 Welp, this is what I said all along. We sweep at the Joe, they take game 3 at home, and we close it our at the Joe in game 5. Good game by both teams. Very entertaining game to watch. Arnott steppped it up at the right time, and now we gotta step up next game to take the motivation away from them. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 Bring on the anti-Hasek crew. Sigh. God DAMN I'M PISSED. Lilja was WAY out of position on that last goal. Completely unacceptable. Filppula's been playing horrible- terrible passing, puck control and all the rest. He turned it over at critical times. Stuart's been way, way, way too focused on hitting. Zetterberg seems to have lost that extra jump in his step, but he's played fine overall. Datsyuk still seems a bit off. Regardless- we didn't have to sweep this series. Splitting these two away games will have to do. A team that wins in the first 4 is often at a disadvantage in the next series because they've been sitting around waiting to play. I predicted a 4 - 1 series win. So Nashville got their win. Now we need to come out hard and strong. I for one don't think splitting up D and Z gave us much more offense, but that's just me. We played great the previous two games, then Babcock (great coach, not blaming him necessarily) changes crap for no reason and at least in my opinion is was a huge failure. (this one to a lesser extent due to lilja being useless on D) i'm sorry but he's got to stop those. first two goals IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM HIS FAULT. i'll give him that. BUT you have to stop those in the playoffs. end of story. oh well. if babs is as good a motivator as i think he is, we should be goddamn fired up for game 4 and back in detroit to take it at the joe. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 Just plain bad game by the Wings. They were outmuscled, outskated and generally outplayed. They were hanging on whenever they had leads rather than continue playing. Did they win a single battle for a loose puck? The Preds took the body and took it to 'em all night long. The Wings played defense like it was an All-Star game, trying to get by with stickwork instead of laying hits. You can't win in the playoffs like that. A couple extra saves would have been nice. That's just where you're wrong, and that's why everyone is frustrated we lost. Nashville didn't do anything better than us. They just had a couple of scoring spurts, coupled with brain farts and Legace-like goaltending in the clutch. The Wings outplayed Trashville and still lost, and the last 4 minutes of the game, we didn't even come close to generating any scoring chances.
