LucRobitaille20 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 Yes, the wings have dropped two straight and yes, they have disappointed us in the past against weaker teams. But, I do feel strongly that they will take this series. They played well in games 1-2, and probably should have won game 3. In game 4 Nashville got an early lead and fed off of their crowd to win. Luckily for us, two out of the next three games will not be in Nashville. To those remembering the upset back from 2001 against LA, I empathize with you. The wings had built a 2-0 lead and were winning in game three, but eventually lost that game and lost the series in four straight. I think today's wings have a much different nucleus in comparison to that season (younger, hungrier players, especially our star forwards, Zets and Dats) and I do believe that our captain will have something to say about what he learned from that experience. The series is 2-2, going back to the Joe, exactly the same record we had back in 2002 when we won it all. I'd rather our team face adversity now and overcome it and be better later on than cruise through the playoffs to be beaten by a team that does just that. In 2002, the wings were down 2-0 in the first round, and 3-2 in the third round going back to Denver. Their adverse conditions helped them become a better and more focused team. I'm sure the coaching staff will make a wise decision with respect with the goalie situation and the lack of jump early on in the game and after Nashville scores. The wings will come out firing in game 5 and will end this series as they should (on top). I still believe!!!

rwfan007 18 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 everyone needs to chill. it is just 2-2. Nashville is a pesky team, but we can put them away easily in the next few games. I am sick of all the bandwagon jumpers here. According to them, one loss in the playoffs means Holland, Babs, Flip, Hasek, and Hudler are all gone and this team will never win again. Take a deep breath.... in.................and out... Ok, it is just 2-2. We haven't lost anything yet. It is a best of 3 series now and we have a good shot to win. Every year it is this same talk of hockey armageddon when the wings lose a game. You people need to realize that no team has gone 16-0 to win the cup. It is hard to win in the playoffs and you will lose some games. That is why they play potentially 7 games in a series, so if you lose one, guess what? You can try again in game 5! WOW! What a concept! If you lose, you can try again! Get it? Good. Now lets root on our wings and not jump ship every time we let in a goal.
umredwing11 2 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 My opinion on this is: it is only 2-2...last year's Calgary series was at 2-2 four games in and we picked it up in game 5 and finished them off in game 6. I am just taking this one game at a time: we take care of business in game 5 and it is all good... I don't want to get the whole "i sill believe" thing going, at least until (god forbid) we are down 3-2. Right now it is a best of 3 series, we can do it. Torless 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 I for one don't believe that Hasek is all washed up, but why keep playing him while he's in a slump? Osgood has been stronger lately - he's playing more confident... and be honest here, Hasek has let in some pretty bad unscreened goals and has given Nashville the momentum they've needed to get this far. They're not playing exceptionally well, they're just winning on a goalie during a bad slump. It's not like we're down 2 - we're just having to start from a tie again, and we know our guys can do it! That said, there's no reason that we can't use a different strategy... it's the winning strategy that has been working all season after all! GO WINGS
Hank 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 Despite all my rantings across this board today, I've always believed the Wings will advance to the 2nd round. I'm just worried that there lack of physical play, and non-existant 2nd line unit will hurt them in getting any further.
irishtemper14+25 11 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 exactly, the series is just best out of 3 now and hopefully osgood is starting the next game because he kept us in it last night which is something we need a goaltender to do sometimes and dom doesnt always do it
Opie 308 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 Despite all my rantings across this board today, I've always believed the Wings will advance to the 2nd round. I'm just worried that there lack of physical play, and non-existant 2nd line unit will hurt them in getting any further. I too always believe they will win, and if they lose it hurts, but it is not like I am going to lose arms and legs or vital organs over it (right, Tony? I promise I will pay) so I eventually move on. But to me this team is about to take off, get back home, get some momentum, get some confidence going and then it could turn into 02 again. Lose two in a row, regain a sense of urgency (like they showed in the 3rd) and things could go very very well. Sometimes guys need a punch in the mouth to get going, here is a good analogy for you MMA fans> Think Forrest Griffin, I love the guy, but until some one pops him in the mouth and makes him taste his own blood he just isn't the same fighter. Then he gets a cut and blood is pouring out everywhere and he is a beast. Too bad Rampage is going to thump him! IMO!

Datsyukgrl_in_ATL 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 It's not ideal to go in there and lose both games, but I remember reading on here people writing they thought we were going to win the series in 5 or 6 games. So, it's not 5. A great game at home and the momentum is back. These guys are professionals, they are getting paid big money for situations just like this. I KNOW we can go it! Go wings! I'd love another big goal from Mac, that made me scare my cat and wake my bf up from a nap! You can't write that crap!

McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 (edited) Personally I think the Wings are gonna come home and wipe the ice with the Preds. Drapes and everyone else was pissed after the game and you know everyone in there knows we gave 2 games away. They're gonna kick the crap out of the Preds and carry that momentum to game 6 on Sunday and win the series!
