Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 I don't know how many of us have seen this yet, but Brodeur and Avery refused to shake each others hands after the Rangers eliminated the Devils tonight. Did one guy offer the hand and the other refused, or was it mutual? I don't believe anything Avery says about Brodeur refusing a handshake, but if he's right and it was just Brodeur who refused, then that does make Brodeur look bad. Personally, I don't blame Marty - Avery has been ragging him for years about his divorce, which is dick move - not to mention his idiotic 'screening' incident. Brodeur was worked up. Avery would have come out of this looking a lot better if he didn't call one of the best goalies all-time 'Fatso'. Talk about a childish thing to do...but damn, can that guy intimidate or what. Everyone's beloved "Marty" is a colossal ego who slept with his wife's sister... one of the lowest things you can do, he's one of the most overrated players in history and deserves to be called "Fatso" because he is one. A few biases around for those who could fault Sean Avery for Brodeur not shaking his hand because he played worse than Hasek in that series and decided to throw a fit about it. That's Marty's problem not ours. Marty is nowhere near overrated. He's an amazing goaltender, by far one of the best if not best. I understand why neither made the first move since they hate each other on Claude Lemieux levels to wings fans, but am still disappointed in both of them. Double that for Avery with his postgame comments. If they would have shaked though I'm willing to have bet an epic fight would have happened. I guess that will have to wait until they meet again next season. Edit: Don't bash either too hard. The Devils just had stellar D in years past. I don't care about his personal life though. None of that should have ever made the news. It's between him and his family.
