Yzermania19 1 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 At least I get CBC here, so I'll be able to watch it. Good thing too, because I was thinking for a minute I might have to go looking for another religion...
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 My local NBC has "to be announced" for game time. I'm extremely fond of God, but not being Catholic, I'd rather watch the Wings (no offense to Catholics). I suppose there are more Catholics than Wings fans. Definately more than Preds fans. They gotta go with the ratings. Pity, though. Maybe we can convince the Pope to twirl an octopus around his head?

C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 Sort of a different type of problem in Cleveland: our NBC affiliate does Indians games pretty much every Sunday. As of right now it's slotted so we'll get the last hour of the Wings game, but they had a similar setup last Sunday and the Indians didn't end until after the Flyers-Caps game. So I'm exploring online and driving out-of-market options at the moment. And cursing people who are lame and demand Indians games on free TV.

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 Church and hockey should remain seperate!!!! is it still on FSN? I think you mean church and state. Or goverment and religion. Or.............heck I dunno.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 No one. That's why it's being broadcast on earth. Sorry, couldn't resist. Nice! Seriously though, and this is not just because I'm Catholic. I definitely love my hockey, but understand why they are doing this, even though I would hate for it to happen if I lived in New York broadcasting over. It's the Pope, the most definied current-day religious figure of their religion, so I think it should be honored/broadcasted properly.

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 The Pope coming to the US is kind of a big deal. It sends a lot of political messages and important religious undertones. It sucks for people in New York but I can udnerstand why they would preempt a game for this. Now golf on the other hand...

That's ridiculous you got suspended. If you start giving religions too much respect you'll get wars, intolerance, oppression and hockey games being preempted by...oh, wait.
