Why is Hudler on the 4th line?

As most of you know, I am a HUGE hudler fan. Offensivly I think he is above everyone but Z and Dats on our team, in terms of raw talent. While it seems more and more people like Filp over Hudler I am glad that this playoffs series has shown us something. HUDLER CAN SCORE WITH ALMOST ANY NON-AHL LEVEL LINEMATES. Earlier in the year when Hudler hadent had a goal in 20 something games everyone was complaing about him, whereas I and a select few others saw it for waht it was, Hudler was ******* playing with Mark Hartigan and Arron Downey.

Now that the playoffs are in full swing, and as like in the regular season, Hudler is among the top point getter per minuters played, i would love to see him as a top 6 forwardwhen we split ZDH up to prevent other teams to keying them. Imagine what he could do with some real Linemates.

Don't give me the "he cant play defense" argument, because as his defensive game has improved, others defensive game has suffered a notch. For being a "two-way forward" Sammuelson sure does very little backchecking, unless you count statnding with aguy without making a move for the puck or the body as backchecking, and Filpulla has been somewhat shakey as well.

Basically all i want to say is

PUT HUDLER ON THE ******* TOP TWO LINES BABCOCK GOD DAMNIT! CLEARY ISNT THE SAME SINCE HIS INJURY AND FILPULLA HAS HAD 2 GOOD PERIODS THE ENTIRE PLAYOFFS

/rant off

Edit:typed fast, bad grammer

He's inconsistent. And if he's such a reliable scoring threat then he should be fine on lower lines to spread the wealth.

yes he is inconsistent, its hard to get a rhythm when u play five minutes a night. oh and he is fine on the second line, as hes tied for the team lead in points and has the highest points per minute of any player in the playoffs.

Also you cannot tell me Cleary or Fillpulla are consistant at all. Fillpula had 10 goals in 8 games, and 9 the rest of the season,

So, he can play with anyone, except the people he was playing with? Look, I like Huds alot, but the dude is streaky. He's playing great where he is, so there he stays.

meh bad grammer on my part due to my anger, and yes he is streaky, but so is our whole ******* forward crop minus are top line. even when he was so called "streaky" he was still contributing more points per minute than Fillpula, sammy, and cleary.

Streaky, and not someone that executes well outside of the offensive hashmarks. Like someone else said, he contributed nicely on the fourth line today with Helm and McCarty, why break that up?

blow huds nether regions all you like, but if you think he's 3rd on the team in term of offensive talent, you need your head examined.

and i like the guy. i really do. but i, like babs, know his role. and thats on the fourth line. why? size and defensive prowess are lacking where others are not.

plus like others have said. the line is doing work. why eff with their chemistry?

Among forwards who is better offensively than Hudler apart from Z and Pavel?

No one.

I might consider Franzen ahead of Huds in terms of offensive production

But I do agree, Huds is playing better than both Cleary, Sammy, and Flip right now, and is deserving of 2nd line minutes, yet I also agree why break up a good thing?

I like Hudler too. He has just as much talent as anyone on the team, but he lacks in size. Last year he was benched in the playoffs because he lacked confidenence and physical play. Hudler has improved his strength this year and has shown flashes of a super star. But he is not there yet, give him time and he will be in the top 2 lines. But not just yet. He is doing fine right where he is at and is earning more playing time.

Keep him where he is, dont fix what isnt broken. Filpula and Cleary just need to get going, Sammy... I sense he wont be seeing alot of ice in the 2nd round.

I don't understand the Samuelsson bashing... I don't like the guy yet I think he's playing pretty well. He skated into the zone a little to slow on one offensive rush today, and that's all I can think of. Other than that, he's getting pissed, putting the body on, roughing it up in the corners, and making decent passes.

Overall, there's usually much to blame on him, but for this series, he's looked good to me.

i respectfully disagree.

if that was true why is he sitting on the fourth line?

maybe his lack of ability in the defensive zone has slanted my bias towards franzen/cleary/homer/flip as more complete players.

that being said, he was DAMN good this series and i hope he can keep it up in round 2 and beyond.

That's the name of the thread, yes.

He is a fourth liner because he is a habitual underachiever. He has a lot of potential like Flip but can't finish plays as much as he should and he passes when he should shoot. He's like a lot of our players who only get hot for one or two games and then nothing for another two or three games. I think this is Babcock challenging him to work for a spot because he knows he can be better but he lost faith in his lazy play at the beginning of the year.

Constant turnovers and dumb play. No I dont want him to be a superstar, but my god, he doesnt deserve all the defence he gets. He just needs to play well and physical, he never does that.
