Firehawk 305 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 Franzen - most important goals Kronwall - huge hits, point leader Datsyuk - clutch goals, point leader Osgood - changed the momentum Lidstrom - Played like always <5 Best So basically it was a team effort is what you're saying? I can't argue with that. That's what you need to win series and cups. I hope this keeps up.
DeuxEx 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 Datsyuk Lidstrom Kronwall Datsyuk was everywhere and played great defensively but beyond that he was sticking up for teammates and playing tough. Lidstrom was his usual self and Kronnwall was showing why he got paid all that money and had some monster hits as well.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 My unscientific, uneducated MVPs of the series... (1) Datsyuk - Even if he didn't score, he created plenty (2) Lidstrom - Consistently was himself which 99.9% of the time is damned good (3) Hudler - Showed he has the capability and fortunately put it to good use for most of this series (4) Osgood - Camly came in when the team was reeling and showed why he's been one of the better goalies in the league this year even when splitting time (5) Franzen - Seemed to disappear in the middle of the series but has still shown his confidence offensively this series by shooting more
SnipeShow 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 Draper, because for a long time he looked like the only guy playing playoff hockey. Datsyuk was solid as well, like he should be. Lidstrom is always great, the best defenseman in the game. Kronwall is really showing up each night which is so good to see. Osgood is a "winning-machine" (Kelly Hrudey), he was so good in the pipes. Franzen, Hudler and Samuelsson all played great hockey. Dom and Zetterberg kind of let me down. Zetterberg looks like he is forcing himself to play instead of going with his instincts. Cleary needs to take it up a notch.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 Kronwall or Datsyuk.
Frozen-Man 144 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 1. Dats 2. Lids 3. Hudler/Kronvall Great performance by all these guys. Hudler exceeded what I thought he would do especially on the 4th line. Kronvall was great on D and and put up the points on O. Lidstrom was like he always is and is so good you hardly notice. Finally, Datsyuk played great on D put up 3 goals and 2 assists and was over all phenomenal. I think Z should be on here as well because of his overall great play but these guys just stood out to me. Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 1)Datsyuk hands down for both his offensive and defensive domination over everyone else on the ice. 2)Kronwall comes in second for being a solid offensive defensman (for the most part), and at times singlehandedly bringing the physicality to take the momentum away from the Preds. 3)Draper for playing solid playoff hockey. I noticed him more than anyone else grinding away in the corners and around the net, and thats the kind of player you absolutely need in a playoff series. mmorland 16 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 I say Osgood because if we did not make the change, I fear we would have lost or gone to a close game 7....
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 I'd say Datsyuk, Hudler, Kronwall in that order.
redeyedwings 2 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 Kronwall, Franzen and Hudler -- not because Dats, Z and Ozzie weren't awesome, but because we all knew if we were going anywhere that the kids would have to take the next step. Those three kids stepped up, big time.
Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 Definately Franzen. If he didn't score the OT winner in game 5 then the Preds could have easily scored, putting us down 3-2 with game 6 in Nashville.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 Osgood no question. 1 goal in nearly three games worth of play, with the lack of attack he was a rock on the defensive side. I don't care if he only has two wins. We would not have won if we kept Hasek in there.

HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 IMO: Osgood Lidstrom Pavel (...and, my biased "honorable mention"....Ellis) Ellis was fantastic. I wasn't sure if we are picking the MVP of the Wings or if we were regarding both teams.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 (edited) I think Datsyuk is clearly the MVP. But, like any successful playoff team pretty much EVERYONE was crucial. Franzen, obviously, was clutch, as usual. Drake and McCarty were making crap happen all over the ice for most of the series. Lidstrom was well....Lidstrom. Hudler performed much better than we expected. Draper was all over the freaking place. Helm delivered much more than expected and won't be going away soon. Osgood clearly gave this team chances to win. He's not MVP simply because he wasn't in the whole series. Zetterberg, while slightly less spectacular than expected, still played extremely well and made smart plays. Chelios and Kronwall were freaking beasts out there and were absolutely crucial. Rafalski made some great plays. Stuart proved why we need him on this team. Physical and smart. So far the only guys who truly need to step it up are Filpulla, Sammy, and it'd be nice if Zetterberg could just erupt like he did in the early season, though I'm not saying he's playing badly. It'd be nice, too, if Lebda or Lilja did anything, but I guess being a wash in the sense that they don't create anything bad while doing nothing isn't that bad. But Datsyuk made it all possible. It seems like he was out every shift of every game absolutely terrorizing Nashville. MVP. Edited April 21, 2008 by VM1138
dallas27 7 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 SAMMY Sammy actually hit the net on SEVERAL occasions. That alone is MVP material in my book.
datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 datsyuk was our best player this series. if ozzie had played more than two games, it could have been him. he was fantastic. lidstrom of course was great. i was really impressed with kronner. wings that need to step it up for the next series: 1. zetterberg. i know i was defending him earlier in the series, and i know he had 4 points, but he made many many questionable plays. he's trying to think way too much. trying to gain the zone on his own, poor passing, waiting too long to shoot, not shooting accurately... etc. 2. cleary. i know he's just coming off of injury, so i'm not sure how much we can expect from him, but he was invisible the entire series. 3. hasek. i think we'll ride osgood at this point, but if hasek gets back in, he needs to be much sharper. 4. sammy. sammy is as worthless as ever. nuff said. turnovers galore, errant passes, errant shots, and believe it or not, not shooting when he should. 5. filppula. i'm really not surprised with flip, he doesn't do much at all. 6. lilja. not sure if he'll be back in, i thought lebda did well in his stead, but another big body would be nice. 7. defensive zone play. this needs to be cleaned up big time. we were excellent in game 5, and the second and third periods of game 6, but we had many terrible defensive zone turnovers that a more skilled team would have made us pay for. 8. finishing. what good is bettering 50 shots in a game if you can't cash in on any of your chances. this team needs to finish its chances. Kira 451 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 I have to go with Pasha on this question. No doubt in my mind he was ever present, vigilant, fearless and just plain relentless. I'm proud of all the guys, but Pasha is the MVP right now.
The Noodle 39 14 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 Definitly Ellis! He showed a lot of sportsmanship and is just a great kid. Also his 40-50 saves a game against us haha! Awesome kid and worthy of the MVP in this series.

Kira 451 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 What a suprise. You would've picked him if he was injured all series because he gave good moral support. Oh come on, even you have to admit he was good. I'm impressed with how good Jiri Hudler did, and I'm happy with Johan's performance, but you have to admit that Pasha's been a presence out there. Give me a little credit, for crying out loud. I haven't been watching the games for nothing, you know.
