Uncle Danny 155 Report post Posted April 25, 2008 He played in a charity game a month or two back, but nothing else. It does not appear that he'll be making a return to the NHL.

Viperar 16 Report post Posted April 25, 2008 you never know, no one thought dmac would be able to make it back i think mac's situation is much different, there's no health risk for mac coming back to the ice, unfortunately there is for jiri.
Real1 2 Report post Posted April 25, 2008 you never know, no one thought dmac would be able to make it back Dmac had drinking problems, not a heart failure.
RedLightGoesOn 81 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 I dont think Fischer will return, and I wouldnt think less of him no matter what. Last I heard he wants to promote defibrillators at sports events, some charity work for some heart research, promote awareness, etc.
irishtemper14+25 11 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 yea but he said he still really wants to return and I think it is still possible but it is a 1 in 100 chance, but jiri's case just shows how great of an organization we have here

Gordie Howe hat trick 110 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 Come on Jiri we love you in Detroit, make a try.
Nev 1,085 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 He wants to try - but no-one will have him. More specifically, no doctor will clear him to play, and no-one will give him health insurance. And that's not for the lack of trying on Jiri's part.
redwinger4747 6 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 I don't want him to play again. It's not worth it, our organization will take care of him financially. Just live your life Jiri, I can't bear to see you on a stretcher again.
DYags 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 This seems to be such a reacurring topic. . and I think it all comes down to how much we loved Jiri and how much potential we all saw in him. It's a tragic thing, but I think we all need to let it go and accept that we won't be seeing him in the Winged will ever again. ...then again. If one day he happens to appear... well, what a memory it would be.

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 I really miss seeing Fisch out there, but he can't return as long as it's a health risk. Isn't he still officially on the roster, though? So someday, if they have some sort of medical breakthrough, and he's not too old....who knows. Although I think he won't be returning ever. And that's okay, he should live his life. I'm glad he's in player development, I can't think of a better place for him.

Anomalously 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 This thread wasn't too old, so I figured I'd revive it for this: http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2008/05/fischskates.jpg He apparently took the ice after the rest of the guys ended their skate, this was just yesterday. interminded 1 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 I read an article not too long ago about him. He isn't thinking about a return at all.. he's just happy with his life right now and the shape he's in. let the man live his life, please. All this BS about how great it would be and how awesome our defense would be... come on.. The man almost died. As much as it pains me to say this, but he should never ever try to come back in the NHL ! Never.
