D-mac got more blows in even though the colorodo player got the knock down!

Boo-yeah to anyone who was down on D-mac, he just did some awesome work!

Darren won but the kid did handle himself well.

Kudos to both of them for giving us a show. Not many players are willing to fight in the playoffs anymore.

Mac didn't hafta go. But he did.

Gave that kid a better shot at staying in the BIGS.

Hats off. Well done.

Win/lose/draw.....I don't care. Mac has the heart.

(BTW - some of his passes were great today.....anyways.......)

aloha

I have to call it a slight edge to Mac, because the dives player got the takedown, but not any decent punches.

takedown??? more like a knockdown.... Mac didn't look so hot in that fight........Downey would have beat that guy

Mac is 36 years old. Of course Downey would have done better. Also, it wasn't a knockdown, since he didn't land anything flush to call it a knockdown. He just hit Mac in the back of the shoulder as they were going down to the ice.

mccarty shouldnt be fighting down 4-0, u dont wanna give the other team a spark. but ya at 4-0 the game is pretty much done so w.e...but if it was 2-0 and he fought i wouldnt be impressed.

game was quite boring today (just how i like it as long as the wings are winning), so it did put a tad bit of excitement into it!

Big props to McCarty for obliging McCormick, hell with anybody saying he shouldnt have fought him there. If he doesnt, then McCormick would just end up going out of his way to pursue a fight, i.e rough up or take liberties with Zetterberg for instance. Just deal with him right then and there. Plus, how can you ever expect an opponent to grant you the same courtesy of accepting a fight while up on the scoreboard if you never do it yourself!

As for the scrap, i'd call it a draw. McCarty looked to have landed an extra shot, but McCormick's punch right at the start appeared to be the most solid shot in the fight. Definitely just a takedown at the end, not a knockdown.

Good post. Don't wait until somebody takes Datsyuk's head off before you get MAC some work. I thought MAC just took a knee at the end realizing he wasn't going to knock this guy out and it was after all, 4-0. As someone else mentioned, he won enough to keep our momentum going, and that's what he's here for. Avs got nothing out of that fight.

Cheers to MAC!!!!!!!!!!

What on earth are you talking about? NHL fans have no clue how to judge hockey fights anymore. They think falling down on top of a guy on the ice grants you a victory. It does nothing but confirm that you want the refs to step and end it - it is in no way indicative of your performance in the fight. It's about punches, not wrestling. McCarty handled him well. He landed some blows and ducked his swings. Once the punches stopped, so did the fight. I could care less who lands on top of the other guy. I wish more fans would be less like you when it came to judging fights. It's disappointing to see such an integral part of the sport get demoted to insipid judgements like who took who down.

Disagree - Mac dropped the gloves at the perfect time. We scored our fourth goal at 10:11 in the second. The fight was marked at 10:30 in the second - right after Colorado made their goalie switch. Changing goalies can give the other team a spark. Mac's fight rallied the crowd and kept momentum with the Wings before Colorado could build anything off their goalie change.

I agree for the most part, there are some take downs that I think add weight to who one the fight but it is more where a guy is more or less beating the other guy down and just throws him to the ground.

Very good point and I am with you. It was perfect timing and a thrill to watch!

WORD! i couldn;t have said it any better. if you actually watch and analyze the fight u see that mac dodges every punch. that is skill and experience. mac knew exactly what he was doing and it showed. its not hard to wrestle someone down when you are fighting on ice; someone will eventually slip. mac looked just fine. he came out of that fight no worse for wear. i think babs would def prefer mac not to fight if at all possible, but in the situation we were in, it didnt hurt. i think mac knows his limits and he knows that he should not do anything to jepordize the team. i love the effort he;s putting in, and he is playing very well with helm. he still looks a little hesitant at times, like he wants to make sure he doesnt screw up, and his speed is not quite what is once was, but i think as he continues to get more comfortable that will all pass. All the best to Mac! GO WINGS!!!
