Kira 451 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 I'm going to be conservative and say Wings in 6 as well. But I'd love to be proven wrong and have them take it in 4 or 5.
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 Good luck everybody. My cousin is a coach with Dallas, hence why I've been cheering for them. Anyways, should be a hell of a good series.
Chris L 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 Exactly; this is why I'm confident that we'll win...Unlike Calgary/San Jose/Anaheim whom play a physical game (which can wear us down) - Dallas tends to play a game similar to ours, & like you said - we're better @ it Dallas is physical too. Check out these hit stats from ESPN: Game 1 - 4/25 Dallas: 27 San: 31 Dallas won 3-2 in OT Game 2 - 4/27 Dalllas: 21 San: 39 Dallas won 5-2 Game 3 - 4/29 Dallas: 41 San: 43 Dallas won 2-1 in OT Game 4 - 4/30 Dallas: 34 San: 16 San Jose won 2-1 Game 5 - 5/2 Dallas: 26 San Jose: 44 San Jose won 3-2 Game 6 - 5/4 Dallas: 88 San Jose: 54 Dallas won 2-1 in 4 OT Total hits for Dallas: 237 Total hits for San Jose: 227 When Dallas wants to play physical, they can. The trick for the Wings will be keeping them from playing physical and duping the Stars into a puck possession game, where we'll own them.
Cruiser008 37 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 Game 1 even 'til Thursday? I'm wary of any team with a hot goalie that seems to always come through in OT... and Detroit is gonna be rusty in game 'cause we haven't played a game with playoff intensity since Game 3 against the Avs. I expect us to win games 2 and 4 and come back home tied after 4 games.... the winner of game 5 will win the series in 6, and it will be.... .... Detroit!!
zettermaberg 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 i'm thinking of getting a ticket to game 4 in dallas, as i'll be down there on business. any other wings fans planning on attending any games down there?
CrossoverThrash 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 Shut down Ribero and Morrow and its over with, i expect Lidstrom to do so, wings in
FirstSamuel1745 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 There's a great feeling about this playoff year. With series against Colorado and Dallas, its just like old times. Let the good times roll - Wings in 6!

gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 Wings in 5. I think we'll take Turco to town, they'll be a bit more worn out and I just don't think they have the mental toughness or tenacity to beat us at this point. They just weem inconsistent as it's gone on while the Wings have just continued to improve and plug holes. Plus we'll be very well-rested heading in. I just can't really imagine Dallas pulling it together enough to outplay us.
McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 Wings in 5. Anybody know if we are planning on making any line up changes this series? I hope we don't change a thing and keep the pedal down!
Marck13 3 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 Turco's good but not as good as osgood WINGS in 5 or 6 ! GO WINGS , GO MULE !
zata40 3 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 (edited) I took the stars 4OT to score 1 goal, and seeing as how we have a better D than the sharks do, I think we well be fine. Wings in 5 or 6 Edited May 5, 2008 by zata40
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 It's not going to be easy. Toughest round of the playoffs yet. But the Wings are rested, have been getting better, and have been in the Conference Finals last year. Dallas is a great team, but they've been a little inconsistent. Turco has been their best player. They're a lot deeper than any team we've played. This is going to be tough, on par with last years' series versus San Jose and Anaheim. But I have faith. The Wings are playing like a well oiled machine and Dallas, even with the rest, might be a little worn out by series end. I say Dallas makes a series out of it, but makes too many mistakes, and gets a little tired towards the end.
va Winger 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 I think it all depends on how quickly Detroit solves Turco. Look what happened to Teodore last series. He was stellar until getting pummelled by a very effective wings offensive onslaught. Once the first few go in the rest is elemental....................................................................... Wings in 5 !

Rivalred 630 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 If anyone things Dallas will as easy as Colorado or Nashville, they are wrong.... Dallas has better Forwards, Defense, and Goalie. It will be a fast paced series with a lot of forechecking..... Key for this series is for the Wings to continue the strong D and actually get rebounds (make Turco move and catch him out of position). It will be a good series...
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 I consider the Dallas Stars worthy opponents, indeed. They are just a notch below the Wings in terms of talent, across the board. If the Wings keep playing the way they performed against Colorado, there is a chance of a 5 game series. The danger here, to the Wings, is assuming that Dallas is anything like the depleted Avalanche team they played in round two. I hope the Wings don't underestimate the Stars. They have a way of pulling out a trick or two when you least expect it and are a great third period team. *hint, play all 60 minutes, Wings. Morrow is on a mission. Turco certainly has overcome his playoff demons to an extent -- but he's about to meet Mule and Co. It's going to be a fun ride!
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 (edited) What.ever.dude. Sammy will take out ankles and feet. After 12 minutes of ice time of our boy Samuelsson, Dallas will be all gimping around the ice. So what your trying to tell me is that even a blind squirrel finds a nut every 80 years? - Seriously... I hope hope Sammy starts to come to form.... It is a little upsetting seeing him just fling the shot at the nect and it is either (1) blocked (2) misses the net) or (3) the goalie does not move and it hits him Edited May 5, 2008 by Rivalred
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 I don't get why it doesn't start until Thursday. That's a long time to wait between rounds. I was hoping we'd get going by at the latest Wednesday. Oh...and Wings in 6. Because thats what the schedule would've been like had San Jose won last night. Just because every series got finished early doesn't mean the league bumps up the schedule of the following round.

Guest nutz2u Report post Posted May 5, 2008 If Turco's luck against the Wings holds true we'll dump em in 5. You gotta wonder whats goin thru his head from now to thursday considering his record vs Wings. I hope his ass slams shut so bad he'a afraid to take a crap. captainsteviey 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 (edited) Awesome. just sweet talked to wife into letting me buy game 3 tickets. Awesome, my first playoff hockey game in person. Hopefully, we're up 2-0 when I go to the game. Going to be a tough series. I think we take them in 6 games. Edited May 5, 2008 by captainsteviey
pjgj13 30 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 My early prediction: Melrose chooses Stars in 6 because they "have the best remaining goalie in the playoffs". Then that means the Wings will win in less than 6. He has been way off the 1st 2 rounds. What's next? PIT/PHI in a sweep over Wings? The Wings won't make the playoffs next year? The guy is a moron and a bum.
vladdy16 2,154 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 See, I think Barry really loves the Wings as he knows that if he picks them to do anything, they'll lose. Let's all thank The Mullet for his consideration.
