Mike Mann 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 I'm about as heartbroken, stunned and deflated as anyone here...but to maybe focus on something positive - I thought HELM was a monster tonight. I am so impressed with this guy. I wish everyone on the team tonight played as explosive as he did.

evil204 4 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 I agree. There were a couple of plays where I actually thought he was Datsyuk.
MississippiWing 14 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 I think a couple of guys really stepped up. Homer came out firing playing like a beast. Helm was amazing. Cleary even suprised me with his crashing to the boards and fighting for pucks.
Hockey9019 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 You usually don't see much action from him but tonight, as others said, he played great!

pavyaz19 1 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 i feel he has a lot to learn, but heck yeah, he was fun to watch tonight. Stealing the puck like the big boys.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Helm was one of our best players tonight. No doubt about that. He made something happen every single time he was out there.

WINGS TILL DEATH 9 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 I'm about as heartbroken, stunned and deflated as anyone here...but to maybe focus on something positive - I thought HELM was a monster tonight. I am so impressed with this guy. I wish everyone on the team tonight played as explosive as he did. I notice how well he played and I really have high hopes for him. Maybe he'll get the game winner in PITs? The thing we have to remember people is that we are the best team this year win or lose. I don't care what the NHL says. We have young star to look forward to and I think Helm is one of them.
IrishWing19 6 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Helm was a huge plus last night, a goal and he led the team with 6 hits, along with Cleary and Flip they were the only players who can to play straight out of the gate. Disappointed that Flip didn't score, hugely disappointed we didn't win, but I think we're gonna be fine come game 6.
Ti-girl 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Okay ladies and gentlmen, I've finally snapped. After that game it's clear. Helm WAS our best centre. Sure, he blew goats nuts in the faceoff dot, but in six minutes he had a goal and 6 hits. That line was the best line we had. Helm was pissed the game before about his play and it showed last night. I expect the same if not more from him tomorrow. Give the kid the ice time. He gave Scuderi and Orpik fits. He was regularly the first player back AFTER he was forechecking. Argh. Real1 2 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Is it just me or does everyone think he deserves to be on the 2nd maybe 1st line?
Ti-girl 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Is it just me or does everyone think he deserves to be on the 2nd maybe 1st line? I don't think he does, but I think he needs more icetime. 4 minutes for your player who has been playing the best? Right. Though, he has at LEAST 2nd line hands and top line speed. His faceoffs will come seeing as he only became a fulltime centreman half way through his 18 year old season in the hat.
Bad Vlad Forever 1 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 he was a beast, as was filpula love to see it when 'secondary' guys play big love that our 'secondary' guys are better than most teams 1st line for that matter!!!! love the red wings!
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 He was unbelievable last night, seriously, words can't describe how impressed I was. Wasn't he meant to be nervous? He was hitting everything that moved. He's our most physical forward and he's 21 and about 5'11. He is a machine! He hits, has tremendous speed, is dangerous offensively and I even noticed he played well defensively last night. Loved his takeaway in the third period I think it was. VERY impressed. Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 he was a beast, as was filpula love to see it when 'secondary' guys play big love that our 'secondary' guys are better than most teams 1st line for that matter!!!! love the red wings! Helm, Filppula and Hudler (yes he took the penalty...) were all great last night. Our three youngest players and all had very strong games. What makes me sad is that Huds played so strong, he had two quality scoring chances in OT but no one will care about that, his penalty is all that'll get talked about. cirov19 1 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Helm = 110% Great kid, I'm so happy we got him on the Wings. Now I'm excited for him to be playing full time next year. He has the potential to be a Datsyuk/Zetterberg and he shows very good stick handling talents.
The Secret 304 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 I also thought Hlem had a great game... not a very big guy but he was hitting quite effectively! I liked the comparison with Draper... only I hope Helm can develop a few finishing moves.... I'm always pulled out of my seat when i see a break-away until I realize its Draper! I always thought that Draper was a few finishing moves away from being a super star... maybe Helm will be just that?! Welcome aboard Helm!
