ChelisChick 174 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 Very true. Dom will be the first to say that Ozzie's hot, so keep riding with him. I know Dom wants to play, but he wants to win even more. He's considered backup now, but I honestly don't look at him like that. I see him as a partner. He and Ozzie are the greatest goalie tandem in the league. Period. Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted June 4, 2008 we're applauding a guy for riding the bench now? These are hockey players, not B-ball / Football / Baseball whiners. I expect nothing less from Hasek... Ozzie was doing, and would have done the same thing. agreed.. shoudlnt it be expected rather than applauded? where was this thread when osgood was filling in as a backup role and actually contributed to the game and was a class act. with that being said im proud of dom... i didnt think he ahd it in him
NEpats1028 1 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 i give him props for always going out to Ozzie after a game and congradulating him on a good game with a smile on his face. He knows his time here is up and Osgood has had one hell of a season.
ChelisChick 174 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 People on here did applaud Ozzie during the regular season when he played phenomenal. He's always gotten tons of respect from the folks on here, and rightfully so. It's just time to do the same for Dom, who's been unfairly dumped on this post-season. We are proud of him AND Ozzie. Dom has proven to everyone the caliber of player, AND the caliber of man he truly is. It's nice to see all of you giving him props.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 Living here in Buffalo,I got to see him Play.and the Saves he would make, would Blow Your mind away..When he left Buffalo,I was Heartbrokin BUT when I woke up that morning and found out he was going to Detroit,I knew that they (wings)were going to Win the Cup and they Did.. Thank You Hasek, Paul I hadn't watched that old Mastercard commercial in a while, but it brought back memories! Dom was truly something to see in his Buffalo days, wasn't he? Watch that commercial, at the very end, where he bats the puck out of the zone with his stick, like he's serving a tennis ball. He quit doing it before he came to Detroit, but it always made the opponents crazy when he did that. Dom can handle the puck. Just not the same way anyone else on Earth does it. He's proved beyond all doubt that he can handle the situation in Detroit, too, with a smile on his face and sincere appreciation for his partner in goal, Ozzie. Thank you all for giving credit where it it definitely due.

ChelisChick 174 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 You misunderstand me. I am all for going with the hot goalie. And Babs did that and all Dom fans agree with his decision, so please don't think otherwise. However, after he was pulled, it seemed like every other post was how awful Dom was, and how he should never have come to Detroit...ya ya ya. Most people conveniently forgot how important he was in getting us to the playoffs to begin with. He and Ozzie BOTH were pivotal. That's what I meant by being dumped on. I wasn't attacking your post by any means. Just trying to clarify what I meant.
maltbyrocks18 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 Why would you be so sure of that? Osgood has won over 400 games regular season and playoffs combined, is a Stanley Cup winner, and has been a Vezina contender. His style is also radically different than Hasek's. Why would Ozzie have questions for Dom? Note: This is not intended to bash Hasek in any way, just a request for clarification of an odd statement. maybe..... things like the hardware dom has won from being a mvp caliber goalie which is something oz has not won yet. not that this is to bash osgood but to remind you that hasek is still the better all time goalie of the 2. C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 class acts from a classy man. Kudos to Dom for the support he has shown after being moved to be the back up. and a big Effff you to the media mongrels trying to promote a stink in the locker room saying Hasek would create one. Eat it Geez that seems like a million years ago, leading into the playoffs..."if Hasek falters, you have Osgood, but once you do that, who knows what Hasek will do in the room..." Everyone who said that can officially suck it. I'm sure this isn't how Dom envisioned his career ending, if in fact it is, but he's going out like the champion he is, even if he isn't playing. Same with Cheli and his comments about sticking with a winning linuep once it became clear that it wasn't a leg injury keeping him out.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 This is sorta random, but does anyone know what that logo/symbol is above the "dominator" on the back of his mask? http://cdn.nhl.com/images/media/masks/west...-Hasek-Back.jpg
ChelisChick 174 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 If anyone will know what the symbol is, it's Loo. She may be lurking around. We are all truly blessed to be fans of a team that sticks together through good and bad. All of us here could learn from their example, me included. All of you coming out in support of Dom have made my night. Thank you so much!!!

ChelisChick 174 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 And I'm sure it goes both ways. Dom has tips and advice for Oz, Oz has the same for Dom. Both of them have so much to offer, not just to the team, but each other and Jimmy. He's coming in to his own, and to be able to study under the best tandem in the NHL is the chance of a lifetime. Dom is someone special, and I am so glad I got to see him play in person. If he retires after the Cup, I can honestly say I saw the best.

MississippiWing 14 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 I'll always look back and be glad Dom put on a Wings Sweater. 2 of the greatest goalies to ever play the game have worn the Winged Wheel. Thanks for everything Dom.
Kira 451 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 A little late in the game for this, but better late than never. Where was all this respect through the season? How soon some people forget that Dom is half of the tandem that got us to this point. And yes, I saw some bashing through the season, so don't play innocent, you who were guilty of it. Dom has been a class person through all this. You can tell it's eating his heart out to sit and watch instead of being in that goal every night. But if it means we get the Cup, he'll do whatever it takes. Like Cheli, Aaron and D-Mac, and some of the others, they will sacrifice their playing time for the good of the team. They might be sitting on the bench, but their names will be on that trophy as well. It's Dom's decision whether he comes back or not, and if he does, I'll welcome him back gladly. If he doesn't, then my only regret is that I never got the chance to talk to him at camp. I would have loved the chance. It would have been a pleasure. HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 Why do some of you make things out to be such a big deal out of nothing? Those of us that aren't considered Dom fans still give him credit where it's due. Some may have bashed him before but at least they have the decency to say he's been great as far as being a team player in these playoffs. Good for him. No need to come on here and call some of us out.
ChelisChick 174 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 Not trying to "call anyone out." Some of us just wish the love and/or respect for Dom had always been there, instead of waiting till the very end of the season. Some of us are a little more sensitive when it comes to ugly posts on our favorite players, but I respect everyone's right to disagree with me. Listening to some of the things that have been said about Cheli really hurt me, but those people are allowed to feel that way. Like I said, it just hurts. Thanks all of you who are giving Dom (and the others) a big It's getting my day off to a MUCH better start than yesterday!
pavyaz19 1 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 Yes, and for being a team player and putting any personal ego aside when you/I/everybody else knows he'd rather be playing right now. So would Chelios... let's all sing his praises as well... Should we throw in Fisch, Downey, Meech, Ericsson, and Quincey? This thread is really odd to me. The guy is doing exactly what any hockey player should / would do. Osgood would have done the same... why is everyone so surprised. I just don't get it. There has been a backup for every game, for both teams, for the entire history of the league... I applaud ALL THE BACKUPS EVER TO PLAY A SINGLE GAME OF HOCKEY. You all rule! Yayyy! Except for the .00000001% of you that sulked while on the bench and didn't support your team. You suck.
