Hossa/Ozzie Handshake

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

From the bits and pieces that were coming through, Ozzie hung on to Hossa for a bit during the handshake saying something along the lines of "Man, you gave me a scare there, that was real close" (it's in quotes but it's not a quote). Let's see when it's up on YouTube. I thought it was pretty funny...

Hossa was the Pens' best player throughout this series. Crosby will get all the credit, but Hossa played amazing.

Second that...Crosby did play well though, but surely not as well as the commentators might have wanted you to think.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have counted. I saw the replay and time had expired before Hossa got a stick on it... but it was damn close and a damn good last effort.

Hossa scared the crap out of me every time he touched the puck

Well, we all know how to solve that: sign him!!! Haha, just kidding. He just made himself a lot of money with this performance though.

I agree, he's now pretty much put himself as the #1 commodity on July 1. I always viewed him as a talented but soft player, this series completely changed my opinion. If Pittsburgh can find a way to keep this team together they are surely becoming a dynasty. I'm just glad we got this done, my stomach was developing an ulcer.

Agreed. I think time expired as the puck hopped next to Ozzie's glove.

But still. Too close!

(Should have been a penalty for tripping Datsyuk though. Of course, Datsyuk should have airmailed the puck into the Pens' zone right about then to kill the rest of the time.)

But who cares? We won!

Hossa was their best player, followed by Crosby, then fluery. After that, it drops big.

Signing hossa would be the best thing in the world. Won't happen though.

We're lucky we won when we did. Malkin was starting to turn it around. 3 pts in the last two games and he eliminated the horrible turnovers that plagued him to start the series.

wow i will be the first to tell you how well marian did this playoff run. i was against trading for him at the deadline but he played amazing all playoffs long. i guess it doesnt hurt to have one of the best players as your centreman but still he played admirably.

Sorry but I have to wholeheartedly disagree with you. Fleury was their best player, hands down. Without him, they'd have been on the golf course a long time ago.

Hossa was the scariest player they had on the ice and was far and away their best skater.. overall best performance only a touch below Fleury. A good scorer and probably the best two-way top 6'er the Pens had. I do think Gonchar's performance has been overlooked, however, and he did a great job of shutting down some Detroit rushes and offense. He gets my vote for #3. Crosby takes a bit more of a distant #4 for me.. he had an overall good and pretty consistent performance but he failed to execute in some situations (though this may have been more of a linemates problem), and he wasn't as near as effective in his own end as Hossa was (while, on the other hand, Gonch was quite effective in the offensive end.. about the only active Pens D-man there...)

Agree to disagree then.

Fleury played alright, but I think his play was sporadic and inconsistent. He'd follow up a ridiculous save with a really soft goal. And he gave up quite a few soft goals, especially in the last two games. Hossa was consistently dangerous in both zones. He was dangerous on the power play and he played excellent on the forecheck. He got consistent scoring chances and capitalized more often than not.

Yeah, I thought Hossa was by far the Pens best player all series long too. It seemed he had a chance to create offense every time he had the puck. If the NBC announcers would have backed away from Crosby's genital area long enough to watch the game, they would've had far more to say about Hossa.

I really think the Wings should make an attempt to get him. You never know, it could be possible.
