Canadian_Yzerman_Fan 7 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 There has been growing speculation that Maple Leafs forward Darcy Tucker is not in the team's future plans, meaning that his contract would be bought out by the end of the month. Source - http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/tor080612.html With the added possibility of Red Wings grinder Dallas Drake retiring, would Tucker be a viable option for filling that 3rd line, with his instigating, pest-like presence? I've never really liked the guy very much, but assuming he's willing to have his ice time cut back, and play a specific role for not too much money (which he could obviously afford to do following a contract buyout), I could see him being effective for the Wings. Opinions?
swedishconnection 36 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 I would LOVE to have Darcy on this squad. I've like him for many years... but im not sure that he would fit in all that well...

Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 (edited) I would hate to see Tucker in a Red Wing uniform. Thanks god Leafs signed him through 10/11..for 3 million year..what a 'great' deal Edited June 12, 2008 by Reds4Life
shoe 165 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 I dont like him either but sometimes you like to have those guys that you hate, theres a reason we dont like him. Everytime Maltby got in a tangle he would leave it and give the guy 1 last bump or a face wash if he wasnt a Red Wing I would be barking at the TV rather than smirking. Tucker is cut from the same cloth drake is, hard worker mucker gets under guys skin isnt afraid to get in there, he had a bad year last year, something wasnt right with him he wasnt effective for this reason I would pass on him. T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 No thanks..... Dreger also did a segment on TSN on how it doesn't make any sense for the Leafs to buy out Tucker....

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 He is a scumbag, but that's what I always thought of Dallas Drake, and I had to look the other way while he was wearing the Wings jersey. Also, many people felt the same way about Chelios in 1999. My only concern with Tucker is injuries, but if this team believes he can stay healthy, I'd love to have him and his grit on the roster. 10 Minute Misconduct 104 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 Scumbag + injury-prone + expensive = no. I guess you missed where it says he'll be bought out. So no, he is not expensive.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted June 12, 2008 I guess you missed where it says he'll be bought out. So no, he is not expensive. I guess you missed Alexei Yashin being bought out last year and still demanding top dollar.
uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 Scumbag + injury-prone + expensive = no. Scumbag plus injury minus prone plus expensive = no? Scumbag plus injury plus expensive = no + prone Id be perfectly happy to see Tucker in a wings uniform.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 Tucker is definitely not one of my favorite players, but he does have value. I'm not dying to see him here ,but it wouldn't kill me. And he is cut from the same cloth as Drake. Suddenly Drake has become a stand up guy around here because he's wearing the winged wheel, but I don't think people felt that way when he went headhunting on Lebda last season as a St. Louis Blue. Mainly though I don't see this happening. For starters you can't trust any rumor coming our of Toronto, and Tucker coming to Detroit seems like an extreme longshot. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 I would love for Tucker to come play for Detroit. I dont think he'll be bought out by the Leafs though, much too valuable if he can stay healthy and return to his old form. Mark Bell would probably be a more viable option, I think the Leafs will buy him out and I'd take him in a second.
PaVel DaTsYuK fan13 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 NONONONONO Tucker doesn't fit in here and is a piece of scum. It would disgust me to see him wearing the winged wheel. I'd much rather see the wings sign Craig Conroy.

Wingman 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 (edited) Tucker's a scumbag. Wouldn't fit in with the Wings. Exactly, we need a couple of scumbags on our team. Enough of this Gandhi-"turn the other cheek"-"never retaliate"-peace prize crap...nooo kidding (although not entirely), but I wouldn't mind him. Maybe he can get Sundin come a long with him.
