Okay who is the odd man?

Well we know this will not get decided until AFTER training camp, so we all must be patient. My money is on Qunicey getting moved, Meech staying at #7 and pretty much taking turns playing with Lebda and Lilja. Chelios will be #8 and I think will play fewer than 40 games barring injuries. Ericsson gets sent down to GR.

That's how I see it. Ericsson in Grand Rapids, Chelios #8, Meech #7, and Quincey is the odd man out.

Lids-Raf

Kronner-Stuart

Lilja-Lebda

Meech

Chelios

Ericsson has to stay in GR now, obviously. Unless they decided to move two players....

I think that trade value for our guys must be high from winning a cup.

Every guy who played I think played well, so its hard to send anyone away. Lebda and Lilja seem like choices if you want to see the young guys play. Stuart makes it so much easier to go younger right now.

We will not know untill after training camp for sure, what an amazing training camp BTW!!

I'm starting to really like Lebda, so I hope it's not him. One thing is for sure though: I like being able to talk about having too many defensemen!

Lebda and Lilja are both under contract which I think solidifies them as our 3rd pair for most of the season.

BTW, Quincey did look good two years ago, I wouldn't be quick to say he is the obvious choice. I'd really love to see what he could do.

What if you leave him in and give him a year and move Lilja. If he plays well you can keep him, if not then he would be even easier to get rid of for Ericsson.

We could always move him at the deadline as well if not playing well for any Dman we want really.

We could prob even get Lilja or Lebda back if we wanted.

No doubt. I live south of Vancouver. I look at the Canucks and say " Who the hell are these guys, they got nobody!"

Then ya look at the Wings and say, "Who the hell are you gonna sit, they're all good!"

We need to roll 5 lines with 4 lines of D. (That'll create match up problems)

Quincey is not even signed and Meech, Lebda and Lilja are signed until '10.

I would prefer to trade one of Meech or Lebda because they are so similar... whichever one fetches the most. Lebda may have the highest trade value because of his solid play in the playoffs... but Meech is bigger, maybe faster, can play forward and may have a higher potential.

I hope it's not Lebda.. who else is gonna drop f-bombs for us on live broadcasts? I was honestly quite impressed with him in the playoffs, serious improvement over last year.

I hate to see anyone go, but Meech was very solid during the season, and Ericsson has too much potential (and can be sent back down to GR).. thus, my money is on Quincey.

I agree..looking at the Canucks right now I'm thinking that if they don't make a few pretty big moves they will be the worst team in west. Bobby Lou is going to have to stop alot of pucks next year.

I'm going to disagree with the majority here and say that Meech moves. And potentially Lebda.

While Derek Meech made great strides this year playing and practicing with the big club, Kyle Quincey has more upside when it comes to potential and future with the Wings. Although, Meech can dress as a reserve winger, so that will be a plus for his staying.

In addition, Quincey isn't signed. He's restricted, and I can't see them signing him to trade him (or him signing just to be traded). So either we lose him for nothing (or - unlikely - a low draft pick), or it's Meech/Lebda, who are already under contract.

Ericsson's not going anywhere (except Grand Rapids this year), so I have the feeling it's Meech on the way out.

Lebda.

Detroit knows Meech is better on the PP.. they gave him PP time over Lebda when they were both in the line up.. Lebda doesn't provide a PK presence so i think Meech > Lebda.. Meech needs this TC to prove himself and i think we will find the answer..

Meech will stay for 1 reason.. He can play as the Puck Moving D-Man or the 4th Line Grinder.. That instantly earns him a spot i'd assume..

Quincey in a close 2nd behind Lebda.. I think Detroit is making a conscious effort to get tougher, but not sacrificing skill. Quincey is exactly that..

Big Rig, Will end up in GR now.. the stuart resigning pretty much tells us that much.

Lebda, He has hit his potential.. He is not going to get better, He's had tons of playing time and still isn't becoming more then a 3rd pair dman.. Theres more upside in Meech and Quincey IMO..

With that said, I also think Lebda's trade value is higher.. Because he has been through season after season and been in the playoffs.. knows what it takes to win.

Don't assume that the better defenseman stays, the lesser one gets shipped off. If Meech is better than Lebda, guess which one is more likely to attract a trade for something the Wings need?

What do the Wings need?

Whoever gets moved is going to go for a pick, IMO -- and I don't think the difference between Meech and Lebda is that great.

Somebody else might.

As for what they need, they may find they would rather trade for the depth goalie they want than sign one. Or maybe they would prefer to trade the one that nets a higher pick. Or maybe they trade at the deadline including one of them in a package.

^^^^

Cover a lot of angles with this one... Wings have stated about landing a Vet G (right?) which really is a thin market right now... Hmm - never thought it your way...

The only thing he showed me last year is that he knows how to party after a Cup win.

With that said, I'd get rid of him first. Lilja has too much entertainment value, and the kids in GR have way more potential than Lebda.

Also, Chelli is a fan favorite so he can't be the one to go.

I think Cheli ends up with nice box seats until some injuries occur. While Meech is decent, and I'd have him over Lilja or Lebda any day, the Wings aren't big enough.

I kinda think they do with Lidstrom, Rafalski, Lilja, Stuart, Kronner, and Lebda. That leaves Cheli as #7 or with box seats until someone gets hurt, and Quincey/Meech either being bait for a forward or being sent down. Thankfully that decision is not in my hands.
