Guest mindfly Report post Posted July 3, 2008 (edited) Isn't it weird that there are NHL-teams located in atlanta and nashville... shouldn't they move to quebec/halifax or some other "hockeytown"... Im not the best in U.S/Canadian geography but shouldnt there be a team like northerneast most... maine/newfoundland or maybe not enough people live there?? People talk about kansas city, why kansas city, isnt that like redneck city numero #1 ? aka NASCAR, FOOTBALL AND BEER! So basically which teams do you wanna move and to what location, if you were god and could rule with iron hand? /mindfly Edited July 3, 2008 by mindfly

MikeG2008 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 (edited) i could live without the coyotes, panthers, predators, blue jackets, hurricanes, and the thrashers. Bring back the nordiques, the jets, and the whalers, and maybe put a team in either hamilton, seattle, or another area in the new england area. Somewhere in Maine would be cool, but i doubt it would be feasible. Edited July 3, 2008 by MikeG2008

PROBIE4PREZ 58 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 (edited) - L.A - Nashville - Columbus - Phoniex - Tampa - Florida - San Jose - Anahiem - Atlanta NO NHL TEAM BELONGS ON THE WESTCOAST!!! The Av's are the furthest West The NHL should go in the U.S .. Less teams = Less demand for players = the death of overpaying subpar players. I would be all for adding 2 teams in Canada where they are much needed Edited July 3, 2008 by PROBIE4PREZ

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 Which of them has best conditions to have a NHL-team? Winnipeg has had nhl-team before.. why did they move anyways? Didn't they have worse attendance than Nashville does? I'd like to see Florida (what the hell is the point of this franchise? Florida can't handle two teams, especially one that never does anything), Nasvhille (just a boring place for a boring hockey team), Atlanta, Anaheim.
HenryMalredo 2 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 Phoenix and Florida have never done much of anything. If it weren't for their history in the 80's, I wouldn't mind seeing the Oilers gone. Move those three to Vegas, Hamilton, and Kansas City. Please no Hartford, Winnipeg, or Quebec. None of those teams were ever worth losing sleep over.

BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 It's good to have teams on the west coast, but limited. I think there needs to be one team in Wisconsin, one team in the Maritimes of Canada, one back in Winnipeg, and one back in Hartford. To replace them two teams, the NHL could remove on of the Florida teams (preferably the Panthers), Phoenix, one of the California teams (I'd love for it to be the Ducks), and Nashville. All of the above are horrible hockey markets from my knowledge.
StevieY9802 6 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 Panthers, Coyotes, Thrashers, Predators and maybe the Canes. Move them to? I dunno Winnipeg, Hamilton and other than that I dunno.

So basically which teams do you wanna move and to what location, if you were god and could rule with iron hand? /mindfly I lived there for a long time, and your'e part right, part wrong. The rednecks and football part is right. NASCAR isn't as popular in Kansas City as it is in the South. College basketball is also huge there with Missouri and Kansas and the Big 12. Also, baseball is quite popular, just because it's an American sport, even though the Royals suck. The new arena looks awesome, but still I have a hard time seeing hockey succeed there, since even baseball can't draw any fans there in the regular season unless the Cardinals are in town. StevieY9802 6 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 Didn't they have worse attendance than Nashville does? They were one of the smallest markets and being in Canada it was hard for those teams back then. And with salaries getting higher it was tough. I'm pretty sure they had great attendance.
PROBIE4PREZ 58 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 (edited) Hockey in the WestCoast is like having a Pro Beach Volleyball team in Detroit .. terriable idea and terriable for the league Edited July 3, 2008 by PROBIE4PREZ

shoe 165 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 Which of them has best conditions to have a NHL-team? Winnipeg has had nhl-team before.. why did they move anyways? They moved because of a very poor Canadian dollar at the time it effected fan turn out not able to build a new arena and ownership couldn't pay what say Detroit could pay as far as salaries. ashenhigh 9 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 Move the Florida Panthers to Milwaukee Wisconsin, and palce them in the central division. drop the Nashville Preds to the South East Division. Wisconsin is a definate hockey state, they would sell a lot more tickets than the Panthers ever could.
Winger19 4 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 Why do people think that Seattle is a hockey market? They're 2 horse town. Football & Baseball. Yes, the Metro Seattle area has 2 WHL franchises, but the Thunderbirds are moving to Kent because they can't support the team there. And Everett is successful because they're a winning team. Washington & Oregon are NOT hockey states.

Frozen-Man 144 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 Why do people think that Seattle is a hockey market? They're 2 horse town. Football & Baseball. Yes, the Metro Seattle area has 2 WHL franchises, but the Thunderbirds are moving to Kent because they can't support the team there. And Everett is successful because they're a winning team. Washington & Oregon are NOT hockey states. I like having some teams that are not in hockey markets. I think it is good for the sport and gets exposure in the U.S. where it wouldn't. No one would have thought that Dallas would be a good place "hockey market" wise but it has done well and has helped a lot of people who had no exposure to the sport to get into it and now some of the public schools even have hockey teams. It is becoming more and more ingrained into the atmosphere of the city. People talk all the time about not getting enough exposure or respect (on ESPN and elsewhere) but a lot of people don't want there to be any (or almost any) teams in the southern or western halves of the U.S. That means that most of the U.S. won't have teams that they can watch or root for and that they will never see a game on t.v. (except the few weekend games that come on NBC in the second half of the season) unless the pay for the premium Verses channel because they won't have a local station to carry them. Many of these non-hockey markets do pretty well and are garnering more and more fans as they are exposed to the game and begin to understand and love it. I think that it would be very bad for the sport to get rid of them all - and it hinders the sports growth when it seems like oh you can't be a real fan because no one from Nashville could ever understand hockey. Just my 2 cents worth.
