Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 If he ends up playing with Kovalchuk that 58 is going to look a bit small.

Rice 42 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 2005 - 2006 He had 58 points ... how did he manage that ... anyone remember who he was playing on a line with? I'm pretty sure he was on a line with Lang and Yzerman. He played point on the PP too.

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 (edited) id put 20 on that .. if he stays healthy he could freakiskly get a point a game .. he did it last season but most of those points were against us ... *If* being the key word there. He hasn't played a full season since he was traded by the Wings and the year before the last he ended up with a mere 26 points in 58 games. Sure he had 36 points in 43 games last season, but he had more talent around him in Chicago than he will in Atlanta....Kovalchuk or not. StevieY9802 6 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 id put 20 on that .. if he stays healthy he could freakiskly get a point a game .. he did it last season but most of those points were against us ... He had 4 pts in 6 games against the Wings not exactly huge numbers. He had a good year considering he missed what 35 games it said. He might do well there but he's just so small. He did have a monster year the year out of the lock out. Good deal for him, I'll wait and see if it's a good deal for the Thrash.
58Miles2Joe 12 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 Williams is not a very good hockey player. He will languish in Atlanta, and Atlanta will be worse trying to use him on their team.
egroen 384 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 (edited) 1 year @ $2.2 million -- a free agent who was actually not overpaid! That's a good price for Williams, he's risky b/c of injuries, but if you surround him with talent he can put up the points to make that look like a bargain. Plus, he could fetch a pick for them at the trade deadline Edited July 14, 2008 by egroen
imisssergei 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 Atlanta is going to be a bad spot for Williams. Right now, Williams is probably the number one center. That is a horrid position for him to be in. When he is at the top of his game, he is at best a second line center. The fans will crucify him. He won't play the point on the PP as Kovie already does. Possibly on the second PP unit, but that's doubtful. Atlanta is looking worse and worse every single day. Kovie has to be counting the days until he can get out. egroen 384 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 Atlanta really does suck. What a piss-poor organization from top to bottom.
Rice 42 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 (edited) Gteat pick up for Atlanta, as long as he stays healthy... About time that they got a center for Kovalchuk... Yeah, Jason Williams is that bona-fide number one center Atlanta's been looking for. Williams sucks. I don't understand what anyone sees in him. LidstromIsASuperhero 29 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 Eh... Williams has a good shot and he's moderately fast, but he's pretty mediocre at putting his skills to use unless he has some good talent around him. Also, that 58 point season, like over half of those points came on the powerplay.

Williams has a good shot and he's moderately fast, but he's pretty mediocre at putting his skills to use unless he has some good talent around him. Also, that 58 point season, like over half of those points came on the powerplay. I was curious about that actually, so I checked his stats. About half of his assists came on the PP (18 of 37) but surprisingly only 6 of his 21 goals did. Lucky year for him I guess. Overall I feel the same. He'll put up decent numbers when surrounded by talent. I never hated him, but I don't miss the guy.
