How about when he gave pittburgh a major penatly for highsticking?

How about when he scored the game-winning goal in game four?

That he took a penalty in overtime that led to the winning goal no more makes him suck than does Franzen for failing to clear the puck near the end of regulation. You're reaching.

Also, it wasn't a major. It was a four-minute minor.

At least he never shot the puck in his own net.

Kronner shot the puck and it deflected off of the other team's player's skate.

Dont compare the two, get an HD tv, and record the games on DVR. That should help remedy these seemingly mindless inaccuracies.

thats not the point in this discussion. Who cares if the comparison isn't factual. The problem here is the mindless people who fill the need to nit-pick a quality 2nd, 3rd, 4th line player, that plays for this team. He's decent, he's accountable, he's a good teammate, and he is not overpaid.

Why'd you even ask other peoples` opinions on the matter when you only created this thread so you could argue that Hudler sucks?

Amen.

Kronner shot the puck and it deflected off of the other team's player's skate.

That's true. Still it wouldn't even matter as everyone makes mistakes. They are being made too big a deal here. Red Wings made mistakes this spring and managed cope in spite of them. There are only three people in the world at the moment who don't make mistakes and they are Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

The puck went off the Penguin player's skate.

I like Huds cuz 1. he has cheeks of steel i just want to bite those guys, but foreal he is like 5 feet tall and by far gives it his all on the ice and really wont back down from anyone at all, he will throw them when he needs to i dont mean fight i mean like he wont back down from anyone that starts being rough with him and his teamates. He is always in the scrum and that guy is one hell of a passer and has one hell of a wrist shot well just overall shot cuz he has perfect accuracy when he shoots

1. Hudler indeed does not back down from anyone, and he indeed gets into it whenever anyone gets into it with other Wings on the ice. It may never reach a fight, but this was clarified by the fellow whose argument you have so blithely---and falsely---insulted.

2. Hudler is indeed a great passer. He, not Filppula, centers the 2nd power play unit. His passing ability, his skill at controlling and protecting the puck, and his great offensive awareness are the reasons behind this. Yes, in this last season Hudler centered the 2nd power play unit on the best team in the league. Does that tell you anything?

3. Hudler indeed has a great shot. He spends more time passing than shooting, but his shots are generally very well chosen and a very good percentage of them do go in. He's good at judging when to pass and when to shoot.

4. The fellow in question is incorrect on one point: the vast majority of Hudler's goals are scored on snap-shots, not wrist-shots.

Hudler's size is not what is most important; what is most important is that he produces. Recall that only Franzen, Kronwall, Datsyuk and Zetterberg outscored Hudler in the playoffs.

Now, my friend, it's clear that you're hating on Hudler in often completely unreasonable ways in order to push for someone like Downey to get a roster spot over him. It's also clear that you created this thread for the sole purpose of hating on Hudler. Now you're spending all of it hating on the people---the majority who have posted---who speak well of him. Further, you're not listening to a word they say. You've been badly reaching in every post you've made in this thread. What is it that you feel you want to accomplish here?

Yup, that's a great reason. Of course, then Hudler went on to score 14 points in the playoffs (sixth overall on the Red Wings), including two game-winning goals. Not to mention, Hudler put up those stats playing mostly fourth-line minutes. I almost forgot that Hudler is too "small and not tough enough" though to produce when it matters most. I guess that theory is all but dead now. If by any stretch you are arguing that Downey was/is more valuable than Hudler, I feel really sorry for you.

Jiri Hudler is a good hockey player. I just think sometimes Hudler has unrealistic expectations placed on him by the media and/or fans. Hudler is offensively gifted, despite his size. I wish all of the people on here that constantly bash Hudler would give him credit, because he certainly deserves it now.

Nice to know there are some non-retarded posters when it comes to Hudles!

P.S. Any further doubters need only look up the definition of "top six forward" then check just where Hudles ranked among Red Wings scorers (regular and playoffs) to finally STFU.

 Christ. *sigh* This from a Bertuzzi fan?!? Yeaahhhhh- god forbid someone take an inopportune penalty, let alone an accidental high-stick! NHL players never accidentally high-stick each other!

Because he is the happiest little man ever when he scores a goal

It's not just when he scores goals... that fecal-eating grin of his that he always seems to be wearing is just so darn infectious!!!

I'd like Hudler better if he actually played in a scoring role, like he should. I don't like him as a 4th line player, because that's not what he is. I'd rather see him on the 2nd line as opposed to Filppula.

I would like to see a second line of Cleary/Hudler/Hossa and a third line of Franzen/Filppula/Samuelsson.

The puck went off the Penguin player's skate.

So? The end result was still a goal because of Kronwall making a bad play.

If you're going to argue it like that, then I'll say you can't blame Hudler either because the face of the Penguins player got in the way of his stick.

Franzen - Filpulla - Hossa

Hudler - Cleary - Sammy

Putting Franzen on the 3rd is silly. And Flipper is mucho better Defensivly then Hudler.

Filppula is better defensively than Hudler; he's worse defensively than Hossa, Cleary, and Franzen and comparable defensively to Samuelsson. Hudler is better offensively than Filppula, and the margin is especially wide in playmaking skill. I fail to see how that makes Flip a better choice for the second line centering two guys of Cleary/Hossa/Franzen/Samuelsson who are all comparable or better defensively to him, but when it comes to offense are all primarily goal scorers--Hossa is the only skilled playmaker in the group.

You don't think putting the best available playmaking center after Z and Dats with Hossa is a good idea?

I put Franzen on the third to keep the FFS line together; that line had wicked chemistry and there's no guarantee he keeps up his scoring as the second option on the second line instead of the first option on the third.
