Sweet, I'm on vacation during the season opener and Cup raising banner game, but Versus is local where I live so I can preset my VCR and watch the ceremonies when I get back.

I was really looking forward to watching the opener in HD (I have yet to watch HD hockey, and only have FSN-HD), so this kinda stinks - but at least I'm not in the boat of no VS at all. Also, if I'm not mistaken, they skipped player introductions and whatnot last year for the opener - hopefully that's not the case this time around.

Thanks for the update. :D

The versus website says that the season opener for us against the Leafs is Versus exclusive.

Unfortunately for us fans... They won't show a minute of the banner ceremony

If that's the case, then that would be a croc of poo.

Meh, they'll show repeats of it on the Red Wings Web site or NHL Network or whatever. I'll see it eventually but if I don't, worse things in life could happen.

That sucks Versus has exclusive coverage for opening night. I was really hoping FSN Detroit would get the game so we could actually view the banner raising ceremony. I'm assuming Versus' coverage will be limited and crappy so we can instead listen to the Versus crew talk about Crosby.

Luckily I do get CBC, so hopefully they will show most of the ceremony. It won't be the same without Ken and Mick though.

Keeping my fingers crossed... Im going to try and get tickets to see the banner ceremony... dont really care how much the tickets will cost me. I cant wait until they go on sale.

I would be suprised if Versus didn't show the banner ceremony, Versus is usually good about big things like that.

If I remember correctly, didn't Versus show Stevie Y's jersey raising?

Not sure if they did, but I know it was on local Detroit television for sure, since I don't have cable and I watched it.

Normally I would be glad they'll show only 7 games because I enjoy FSN's coverage way more. But this year I'm really sad because I just moved away to college where the only hockey I'll get to watch is on Versus or some crappy streaming site.

Yeah......I just hate watching games on a nationally brodcasted high-definition platform. <_<

Milbury sucks, but the feed is gorgeous and gets to a lot of people.

FSN is High Def and has better announcers who actually know Detroit Hockey. I could care less if its National Broad casted, Versus has a s*** Hockey broadcast, Cuts to commercial to early. And there is no Mick..

Nuff Sed.

Well, its pretty convenient for you to say that seeing as that you actually "get" the HD feed from FSN. Not all of us live in Detroit and have FSN HD available, and thus are forced to have the crappy feed that NHL Center Ice sticks us with.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to be able to watch every game on FSN-D HD with Mick, but its not always an option. For those of us that it isn't, did you ever think that perhaps we might want to see a game or two in HD throughout the season?

Ugh. Versus... mixed feelings on that one. Don't like the on-air personalities, but as someone who gets the Center Ice package every year (displace fan syndrome), I'm hoping that I have a better chance of seeing all the pregame stuff. Center Ice oftten cuts in at the very last minute and (seems to) cut out before the final horn has finished sounding.

Games can be broadcasted on Nickelodeon or the Cartoon Network or the Weather Channel for all I care. I just want to see games in color with a halfway decent picture. All the extra stuff with HD or broadcasting is nice, but it's a bonus for me. Just be on somewhere. It's better than nothing.

I don't worry or get bothered about commentators or sports analysts on what they have to say about the game or take down 150 different notes on why they should be stroking the Red Wings ego and 150 different conspiracy theories on why they are against the Red Wings. I just enjoy watching hockey and sports.
