LeftWinger 5,153 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 Are you serious, that was a clean hit with the recipient's chin tucked tightly to his chest. You can't blame Kopecky for being taller than Carle, even Guy said the hit was clean! If the league tries to get rid of that hit (wouldn't put it past them) that would be a bad bad move. The only way Kopecky doesn't hit him on the chin is if he ducks down about 3 inches. ...yeah, isn't that wht Brian Burke taught us all? It Genetics! Shame of Carle's parents for poorer genetics than Kopecky's parents!

DatsyukownzU13 1 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 The only ugly thing about that hit is how terribly long Carle admires his pass.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 WHY THE f*** DID HE GET A PENALTY FOR THAT, refs costed us the game Were you at the game? The game wasn't televised nor did I listen to it, but if the NHL.com Game Summary is accurate, Kopecky and Belle both got roughing minors with Belle getting the extra 2. It looks like Homer scored ten seconds later. So if anything, that hit helped the Wings because it forced Belle to take an extra penalty thus giving the Wings a PP opportunity that they cashed in on. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 Weren't you just bashing on Downey/Mccarty fans? Saying that people who think we should keep them over kopecky are just silly to think that? No. I said that the idea that McCarty or Downey in the regular lineup in Kopecky's place helps the Wings more than Kopecky does is silly. That's not a personal attack; it's pretty clear cut analysis and on-topic.
Saran 1 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 Easy there. It's the preseason, the final score doesn't really matter during preseason games. twas a joke

For most regular season games and definitely for the playoffs, yes, Kopa being in the lineup benefits us more. However, there will be the occasional game where Kopa is invisible, or a game that is well in hand against a thug opponent taking liberties where a Mac or Downey would likely be more beneficial to have in the lineup. The rub is you never know when that game might happen so you have to put the best "players" out there. To which Kopa is certainly the best of the 3.
Nort 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 I just want to point out that the announcers are wrong about what Carle that is. It's not former Shark now Lighting Matt Carle, who is an American. This is Mathieu Carle, a Quebecois.

I really don't understand how you guys think it is so hard to see through a full cage. It's really not a difficult thing to do.

Like F.Michael said, it either bothers you or it doesn't. The last time I wore a cage I was playing club hockey in college. I hated every minute of it. When I got out of college and signed up for an 18+ men's league I took it off and never looked back. Although I did take 5 more stitches to my lower lip a couple years ago that I wouldn't have gotten had I been wearing a cage. Just never suited me or my style of play. Although I did take 5 more stitches to my lower lip a couple years ago that I wouldn't have gotten had I been wearing a cage. Just never suited me or my style of play. I've always worn a cage...which with the number of shots I block and guys I've played with who can't keep their sticks down, is a GOOD thing. I once dropped to block a shot, and it got deflected and hit me in the face; would have knocked out a few teeth had I not been wearing the cage. I actually got my only hockey related stitches while wearing it though. Wasn't even on the ice at the time. Jackass got knocked down by the bench, stood up flailing his stick, and caught me right up under the cage. A few seconds later, the guy next to me noticed that there was blood spilling out of my chin cup.
