Vincanni 1 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 I am so psyched for this game. No way in hell I'm attending class tonight! Couldn't ask for a better 1st game too, shouldn't be too diffecult of a game for us but the rivalry adds to it's importance enough to make things very interesting. Also while normally I frown upon team's missing players when we face them as a being a good thing, they'll be without Hollweg so I can't say there will be any tears shed over that. Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 I just wanted to say Welcome Back everyone!! This has been a great summer. I seriously never changed out of my Stanley Cup Lockeroom Shirt down here in Nashville!!! Someone had mentioned that during the banner raising ceremony that this is for all of the people that talked down about us, said negative things about us, we will never win with this team and blah blah blah!! You my friend hit the nail on the head!!! This team had overcome so much in the last 3 years, we completly rebuilt the team and it still only took 2 seasons to bring home the hardware!! That to me is amazing!! I must say, I will tear up while that banner goes to the rafters!! Lets do it again this year boys!!!!! Oh by the way HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANK!!!!! Lets keep pissing off the rest of hockey nation and win a 12th Stanley Cup this year!!!!

Shockwave180 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 Yes! Hockey season is back, baby. Btw, does anyone have the all-time head-to-head record between the Leafs and Wings? I know that as of several years ago it was tied, and if memory serves, I think it's currently at 271 wins each. I can't find it on any game previews, though. HkyTwn 5 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 I'm in my Yzerman jersey. I have to work the residence hall front desk from 6-7:30 but made sure I didn't have to do the second shift (7:30-9) so I could party in my room and watch the game. And my duty walks won't be done until the game is over. I'm SO EXCITED. It's getting closer and closer.
Guest mindfly Report post Posted October 9, 2008 How come so many people wear #19 jersey's, are they just conservative and living in the past? how come none have #9 instead? Instead of #19 people should start wearing #5 and realise how good he's been for this club, no disrespect to yzerman but lidstrom is now, yzerman was before or is it just to show everyone "hey dudes, im oldschool, look at me"

Instead of #19 people should start wearing #5 and realise how good he's been for this club, no disrespect to yzerman but lidstrom is now, yzerman was before or is it just to show everyone "hey dudes, im oldschool, look at me" Because Yzerman was my childhood hero. Because if I were to get another jersey, it would be a younger up and comer. Because I dont have 250 dollars to buy on another Wings jersey when I already have three. Unless you're offering.... Cern 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 (edited) or is it just to show everyone "hey dudes, im oldschool, look at me" Partially that, partially idolization, partially people aren't likely to shell out money for a whole roster of replica jerseys, especially with the Wings' uniform remaining unchanged for so long. I myself have one away (Lids) and one home (which I finally got Zats numbers on after ages of remaining blank) and unless there's a Winter Classic vintage one-off I don't really have much of a reason to shell out more money for what I essentially already own. Guest mindfly Report post Posted October 9, 2008 How common is it in US/Canada to wear the jersey but your own number&surname? I know over here in sweden thats what everyone do and im like, "wtf you aint playing in the team " Them premier ones seem pretty decent though and they are only like $150. Best thing would be to buy a jersey without name or numbers cause then you can keep it forever
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 Anyone with their own name on the back of a Wings jersey needs a reality check. We'd all like to play for the Wings, but it aint happening.
