Are you really breaking down his "cocky smile?" He made a great play and was likely just saying something funny to Brindamour. Players talk trash all the time, including our precious Wings.

Have a go at reading Kopecky's lips some time.

.

Hossa seem lost

Zetterberg isn't even near the conn cmythe skills

Kronwall doesn't have the timing

Samuelsson is the worst puck-handler in the league period, YOU SUCK

Lilja is lazy and suck!

It is going to take time for Hossa and Zetterberg to get accustom to to the new lines...

Yes Kronwall's timing is off, but yet again it is not like he has played 20 games.

Lilja was excellent on the PK... Who was out there with Lidstrom on the 5-3 huh?

Seriously bro, you really need to relax a little...

Had to go to uni this morning so missed the entire game. Great to see we won and looking at the highlights on NHL.com Conklin made some amazing saves.

Good to see Zetterberg score his first of the season, empty net or not. Rafalski quietly off to a great start offensively with 4 points. Hossa's pass to Holmstrom was a thing of beauty, hopefully he starts being more active and alert out there because so far he's been pretty underwhelming. I guess time is all that's required.

Haha, thought I was the only one who noticed that after Brindamour's shot.

I know you saw Conklin giving a cocky smile to him too. Brindamour didn't want ANYTHING to do with it either. As I didn't think he would, Conklin just robbed him.

Conklin doing that just doesn't seem Detroit Red Wing hockey to me. I've never seen a Red Wing goalie do that, not even Dom, and he had every right too and is one of the best goalies to roll through the town. Even when the team scores it's just a hug, nobody does a Jagr salute or anything. Guess I'm more of a Barry Sanders adage guy, act like you've been there before.

I took a screenshot of it:

I don't think it was a cockiness. Brind'Amour probably said something to Conklin after the save that made him smile.

What makes you think Brind'Amour was pissed off by it? I didn't really notice anything before or after I saw Conklin smiling.

I'm almost certain I saw Brind'amour say "Nice save" and that's why Conklin smiled. In any case it's nothing to make a big deal over, not everyone has to be all ho hum when something crazy happens, it's not in a hockey player to do so, even though the Wings do it.

Whether Conklin smiled out of cockiness or as a reaction to a comment, who cares. As long as he makes the saves, f*** it, Smile away. Ill start to worry when he gets scored on and smiles.

P.S. proud to see a Wing from the 49th kicking ass!

Nice to see the Wings pick up another win on the road. The team was still a bit sloppy tonight as a whole, but they got the job done, and in the end, that's all that matters. Conklin was out of position a fair number of times, and had to resort to making quite a few desperation saves, but for the most part, I thought he played excellently.

Next up is Vancouver at home on Thursday. It will be good for our boys to get a few days of rest.

Why is everyone bagging on Sammy? He had a good game and so did Lilja who had a great PK game. Cleary, Dats, Lidstrom, Mule all are back in season form. Hossa seems to be coming along well and Conks is the man. I really thought Kopecky has been getting a bad rap but it appears he didn't learn jack from Drake because he needs to start becoming our physical player; I'd like to see how he does with an enforcer around him. Really hope Z starts clicking, and Hudler was invisible when he was on the second line he was getting pushed around. That is why they put Sammy and next may be Cleary they need someone with a bigger body to not get knocked out off the puck like Hudler has done so far; though they should try to give the line at least a sold month before deciding where to switch people.

It's really getting lame how people talk s*** about lils just to talk s*** about him. He had a good game and there's no need to talk down about him.

Hossa looked good in my opinion but I think he is more of a workhorse type player and would better be suited with Franzen, their styles would compliment eachother well. Datsyuk looked great as usual, hank is a little lost without pavs, but he'll figure it out I'm sure. Sammy doesn't deserve all the s*** he gets either. He just needs to fine tune his puck control and timing, he's got great speed and makes some great plays to split by the d but then gives it up by making a bad pass or just trying to get by one too many guys. I think as a whole, the team looks a little sloppy and the D needs to get their games back, mostly kronner and stuey. Sure, it as nice to see stuart make the hit but liek he often does, he took himself otu of position and then the canes player was open in the slot for their lone goal. Anyhow, good win when it comes down to it but as others have said, there is work that needs to be done, but it is definitley not as bad as some make it out to be, there's 82 games for a reason.

I was watching the highlights from last nights game and noticed something pretty funny, so funny I figured I share it with everyone and also see if anyone else noticed this also.

at about 1:22, in after the canes break down and get a good shot on goal, the Canes fans were celebrating a goal that never happened, and the best part is you see a guy, at 1:22-:124 not even paying attention starting to high five, his buddy at the game for a home team goal, all the while the play is still going on, people waving towels in the air.

priceless.

www.nhl.tv then go to highlights, and pick Wings -vs- Canes, then watch real closely in the stands.

Am I the only one who actually enjoyed Conk's antics?? Give the guy a break, it was his first game with a new team.. You know he was nervous and the adrenaline took over.

I thought it was an interesting change of pace, added some humor to watching the game.

He did stare down atleast one other guy other than Brindamour, though not nearly as much "in your face"

Ty played a great game and if he plays and if Ozzie plays close to what he did last year, we should see one of the great seasons in league history.

The key is no injuries like last year (outside of Feb) and have a very good backup.

Same thing happened at the Joe for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals when Datsyuk rang one off the crossbar. The first few rows jumped to cheer and everyone else followed suit. Big let down when they showed the replay...
