IUWingsFan 1 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 Haha that was pretty good... And maybe it was just me, but Nicky seemed pretty nervous at the beginning of his little speech... "the Red Wings.... uh... hockey association"

Amberoonie 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 Very nice presentation. Didn't even stumble on Kopecky's name! Wish we could have gotten a shot of Franzen DURING the joke, instead of afterward. Odd note; He sure turned the pages of his speech fast. Must be some large font, lol.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 Dubya did good today. The Red Wings looked awesome, nice ceremony all around. I really liked the nice touch the Wings added, giving him a jersey for his dad (with 41) and one for him (43) to designate their tenures as President. Nick said, we got to take our dads with us on the road, and we want you and your dad to watch us win again next season. You could tell the president really enjoyed that. I know the guys had a good time, they were all smiley and enjoying themselves.

Louisville 112 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 For the first time in in his entire presidential career, George W. Bush made me happy today.
scotzman 29 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 If only Bush sounded like that when it mattered... Lots of good stuff in there. It was nice to see D-Mac get a story in the speech. I also liked that Bush talked about how charitable these guys were with the Cup. Hockey players seem to be great people...

Guest mindfly Report post Posted October 14, 2008 lol on behalf of the admin staff on here i think they want the hockey discussions to be free of political talk, everyone is entitled to an opinion though this aint the right forum for that i think

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 Actually, I thought it was a really nice little ceremony. At first, it sounded like Lids was inviting Bush and Bush Sr. on the Father-Son trip this year. The further it got in though it seemed like he was just offering an extra jersey for Sr.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 NOTICE: Let's keep this thread about the visit to the White House. We all know there's a spot for political discussion on these boards and the GD most certainly isn't it.

rwfan007 18 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 good video. like him, or dislike him, respect the position of President. It is not an easy job being the leader of the free world. It is an honor for the wings to go to the white house and be congratulated by the President of the United States himself.
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 The man can't say "nuclear" but he can properly pronounce Kopecky? Wtf? Regardless of Darren's views of the President, it had to be a pretty proud moment for him to stand there and hear the President tell his life story in a rather glowing manner. Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 Pavs was great in the back. Lids looked and sounded like he was having an axienty attack, but I thought it was awesome when he said "...for when we win the cup next year". Lils looked like he was placed by "The Mule" for FBI protection lol
Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 Nice presentation. What an awesome moment for the President to say your name and recognize what you did. Lidstrom looked very nervous, but then again, who wouldn't be in that situation.

The Door Man 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 I was actually at the ceremony at the White House today. Absolutely awesome. I'll upload pics tonight. Most players hung around afterwards and took pictures and signed autographs. Incredible experience.
