It's early yet, but remember that he's had two 40 point seasons. If he stays healthy, he could put up more. He's defensively responsible, and he's not afraid to go into corners.

I'm not totally up on the relative value of contracts, but 2.5 mill for 40+ points and a good two-way forward seem reasonable.

Seconded

I dunno why so many assume that grass is greener on the other side of fence.

From where fans take that somwhere in team's bench are better players in waiting??

The fact is that you play with thouse you have and you have to live with that...

Give this player a chance, I want to see that guy....Sry but coach sees those guys every day in practice and his work is not to showcase players to whining fans

This is a response to those who always demand to see GR guys or demand trades...

But you're looking at it from an apolitical point of view when its not. There is a politic in terms of who gets to play. And guys like Samuelsson, Lebda, Maltby, Kopecky, McCarty, and Draper all benefit from that.

No I know, I was more or less playing Devil's Advocate. Maltby and Drapes can be waived today and I wouldn't shudder.

I would shudder a little without Drapes.

He's very good defensively still, a beast on faceoffs, and though he doesn't do it as much in the regular season, he had a lot of great hits in the playoffs. And he's still got pretty good speed.
