All-Star Voting shenanigans by Habs fans.

Seems Habs fans have been cheating a little and are boosting all the Habs All-Star Voting numbers. Currently every single Habs player, with the exception of Hamrlik (he's still playing in the NHL?) is above or around 200,000 votes. The closest ANY player comes to that is Lids with just over 100,000 and Luongo with just over 110,000. Hmmm, something seems a bit specious!!! Funny thing is, this is the comment from NHL spokesman Gary Meaghar about the situation:

"I don't want to jump to conclusions at this point. There is some indication that something has happened ... I'm not at a point where I can say definitively that something has taken place,"

Then you have Puck Daddy (Greg Wyshynski) who quickly and easily came up with the problem (or reasoning for the problem) with the script the Habs fans have been using to auto-vote which can be seen by clicking the link below...

So, what do you all think should happen now?

Personally, I would love to see them exclude all the Habs players and if anyone wants to complain, tell them to take it up with their class-act fans. Seriously, the Habs fans are about as worthless as all the jack-*sses who riot after their basketball team wins/loses (never understood why people riot after a win OR a lose?). Regardless, I just don't see this happening.

What do you guys think they should do? Maybe keep all the current players votes as is and restart the Habs players back to zero?

We're not going to do something like that, because we are all lazy and we all suck.

In terms of "padding" votes, doesn't really bother me at all. I'm definitely not against All-Star games in general as it's something for the fans etc., but it's a game that doesn't count for anything in the standings or anything and it's a chance for athletes to get injured in a game that doesn't count.

Some vote totals got reduced, but Habs weren't really affected. It seems most of their votes were legit, they've just got a massive fanbase.

Stars players lost about half their votes, which helped put the Wings back in the top 3.

I couldn't care less. Do everyone a favor and just eliminate the All-Star Game for good. The NHL is by far the worst league in terms of the ASG and its festivities for the weekend (or Tuesday and Wednesday now). Anyone remember the "skills competition" the night before the ASG last season? That was about as exciting (maybe less) as watching the Devils play.

I'm expecting bigger things this year. The style shoot-out thing it seemed that half the players didn't even know they were going for style points (ie Datsyuk). This year I think more people will have the hint.

Unfortunately I live in Montreal now and it does not surprise me if the fans are cheating on this. They do have a very dedicated and loyal fan base and this year their team is doing quite well but.... They are as bad or maybe worse then Maple Leafs fans. All I get to hear is how bad Detroit is and that Montreal is the run away team for winning the Cup. And despite the fact they have not won a cup since '92? They are the best franchise in the league as well! Hilarious if you ask me. They barely squeeked by Boston in the first round last year and the have a celebration RIOT! Loyal but classless fans here in Montreal, oh yeah, to boot I have heard the conspiracy theory that the fix is in for the Canadiens to win this year because its their 100 year anniverysary, the ASG is here, and I believe the entry draft is here too... that naturally means that its all set up that they will win it all this year to honour them.... I hate the Habs! Their fans blow hot air too!

PS. I will have all my fellow Wings fans know that I proudly wear my Wings gear despite being in a hostile environment here in montreal!

That's a great idea. Let's punish the players for what the fans are doing.

While we are at it, maybe we should strip Lidstrom of his Captaincy because of the Wings fans who have admitted they only voted for Lids for best captain b/c he's a Wing.

Edit: Just look at the all star thread on LGW. One LGWer admitted to casting 60 votes for our guys already. Don't bash on Habs fans b/c some of them figured out a way to fix the system. I'm sure the league will handle it. But seriously, a little hypocritical about these things we are.
