It could really have gone either way. Had both players stayed up they'd have probably called nothing.

That said, it certainly qualified was interference and was a valid penalty to call by the rules, so I'm not going to sit here and complain about the call.

And that is EXACTLY why the penalty was called... because the 'nucks player fell down. Had Franzen fell down, different story. Had they both stayed up, no penalty would've been called. I'm not saying it was a ridiculously horrible call, I'm just saying it's not a call I like to see in OT. Then again, this "New NHL" sickens me to death!

ozzie is not capable of making that timely big save.. no matter how many saves he made tonight, 2-1 with 2 min left (lead) and OT on a PK.. absolutely no confidence in him this year. conklin all the way, the guy is a wall back there.. stick with him for now!

god i hate the canucks.. losing to them more then losing to the leafs.

5 out of 6 points from Western Canada. It sucks that we lost like that but that point will mean nothing at season's end. We deserved to win tonight, it was a couple defensive breakdowns and a bad penalty by Franzen that cost us the game. Too bad for Ozzie, it was probably his best game of the season.

I think Babcock needs to change the line for some like Z line.. hank is playing fine but his linemates are craps. Sammy scored a goal tonight but his play was not very good and same with Franzen.

We really need to get back Homer and Cleary

Franzen somehow looks lost right now, stupid taking penalty and almost invisible last 3 games

Now it will come closely more obvious

Franzen will be a free agent. I know he had been awesome during the last playoffs and the beginning of few games but kind of being the most horrible and invisible player so far last few games

I think Osgood is fine and he will get back his stats because canucks first goal was all our mistake by Huds

and our 3 road games on Canada was 2-0-1, 5points, which are fine

we can fix our problems, especially PK, 14th in the league i guess?

We did not have great games and lets wait for wednesday to crush struggling Habs

It's not like they gave up a 2 on 1 break away goal to tie up the game. That play was a ridiculous deflection. The Nucks were just coming on. We just suck in OT it feels like we never force the OT it's always forced on us.

A team only comes on if you let them. The Wings had several chances to clear the zone. If you're the stronger man, the tougher customer, the better competitor, then 9 times out of 10 you win those battles and clear the zone. All it takes is a little extra effort, and thats all the Wings needed to seal the deal. Regardless of how good the chance was or how lucky the goal, the Red Wings should've spent that time seeing to it that the Canucks were stifled for the remaining 3 minutes.

Its too bad Cleary isnt back. With the way hes been playing the PK and in our own zone, he'd be a good shutdown line to build around and throw out on the ice right after we score a big goal.

pretty much anything besides 'house' hockey. and there was a little bit of sarcasm in my voice, but not all that much. Maybe it's just that everytime I go to a bar or a game 90% of the people in there have zero clue what they're talking about. Me and many of the people I know who have played travel hockey understand the ins and outs of the game. again, there was a little bit of sarcasm lingering.

Okay, I've had a few minutes to absorb the games and return to rationality, and I can say that the defensive shakiness is still a big concern for Detroit. Oz had a handful of monster saves to keep them in it, and it still took a couple of posts to keep the game in control. With that said, the tying marker, despite being a huge disappointment due to the time after Pavel's goal and with the gameclock dwindling, was just a stupid little shot through traffic. That's hockey and that happens, so I can live with it.

Franzen's penalty in OT was sufficiently boneheaded though.

This was a pretty average turnout by the Wings; their offense and defense weren't as bad as I think everyone is remembering it to be right now, but they can and have done much better.

Osgood made more amazing saves than the Wings had shots in the last two minutes. If you want to point at someone for not winning the game, point at the offense for not scoring a goal when they needed to.

Or point at the defense for breaking down immediately after scoring the go-ahead goal, and Franzen in particular for screening Osgood on Sedin's tying goal. Franzen then followed it up by taking a really s***ty penalty in overtime.

Osgood was by far Detroit's top player tonight; you can hate on him if you want, but he was still the best Red Wing.

Agree. This one is not on Ozzy. Can't blame him for a single one of the ones that went in and really there should have been more against if you take away a few of his ridiculuous saves. Like someone else has said, guys starting to look cursed, gotta feel for him after this one. Huds coughing up another horrible turnover which seems to happen to Ozzy a lot more than Conks this season, bouncing deflection no chance on the tying goal and a 4 on 3 ripper with a Datsyuk screen of all things to lose the game.

Anyone who tries to pin this one on Ozzy didn't watch the same game I did.

Wow when I saw a linesmen block the puck on a clear and saw him kick it back into the D zone, I knew the Wings were going to lose. Gotta say the Nucks D did a great job though.

Alright, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. If you like listening to a bunch of people ***** and moan about how the season is over, how we should cut this guy and this guy, how this is the worst 14-2-4 team on the planet, and don't want to do anything about, you do that. There is nothing in the world that is more annoying than that. As Red Wing fans, we have been given the opportunity to enjoy and root for one of the premier organizations in ALL OF PROFESSIONAL SPORTS. Too many posters take that for granted with all this incessant complaining about a game that means next to nothing in the grand scheme of things. People need to realize this, accept the fact that there are 82 games plus the playoffs in the season, and realize that bad losses are going to happen and cut out the retarded knee-jerk reactions that make you look dumb and immature.

Wow, are you serious? That Sedin deflection should have definitely been stopped.

Good lord, did you even watch the game? Ozzie is the only reason the Red Wings got a point tonight. He made huge saves numerous times during the game. Rip the team for sitting on a lead (again) if you must, but you are way off if you think Ozzie is at all to blame.

Franzen has said hes still not feeling up to speed after his injury - that probably has a lot to do with his play.

That said, I'm with you about Z's line. Hank is doing a ton of good work out there every shift it seems, but a lot of it isnt coming to fruition because of his linemates. Yes, Franzen was invisible, but I thought Sammy played fairly well. However, the chemistry between Hank and Sammy the past few games seems to be a bit off. A change might do Hank some good while we're dogged with 2 key injuries.

Hell, with the way Babs has been experimenting with the lines, he might want to try out Hank and Hossa together for a shift, and reunite the Flip-Datsyuk-Franzen line. None of our top lines have looked particularly hot lately, and you never know - if Datsyuk were to go down, itd likely be Hank moving up to center Hossa. Itd be nice if they had a few games experience playing together if that were to happen. Eh, just a thought..

I'd like to know what the Wings record against backup goaltenders has been the past ffew years. I'd bet it isn't too great. And I wonder how much better our allready good power play would be, if the opponents didn't know that Samuelsen will shoot the puck 90% of the times he gets it? It just seems like a majority of the clears made by the opponents PK's are attributable to Samuelsen or Rafalski.
