Didnt see anyone mention this yet but incase anyone was wondering Helm has already been Reassigned to GR and Mccarty has been recalled plus Cleary has been cleared to play Friday night.. So.. I guess Helm was good while he lasted.. still dont understand not finding someway to have him in the line up..

Theres something outside of offensive stats. Its called defense.

At any rate, yeah. Its Nick Lidstrom. Who also happens to be halfway through the year towards the big 39.

People get old. Believe it or not, it happens to hockey players too. Maybe you've forgotten, but Chelios' play went downhill pretty fast too after being nominating for the Norris for the last time.

Lidstrom still plays good d

How can anyone get in the lineup with Kopecky playing on the 1st line. He's basically holding everyone back, even though he's doing nothing but skating in circles out there.

It's one thing if a guy hustles on the 4th line, but on the 1st line you have to do more than just battle along the boards and hustle. You also have to score, and that's why he shouldn't be a first line player.

How can Babcock not see that?

Babcock is giving him his chance, he's watchin kopecky suck it up, you won't be saying the same thing when they wive kopecky later, just hold your horses and be patient, its early in the season and were 2nd in the league

Rough game tonight, Price made some big saves and the penalty on Hossa was  . It's also rough to play a team as skilled as Montreal the first game after a western road trip.

No worries here, we'll get 'em next game.

Never said he wasn't. Hes just not the elite of the elite anymore.

Just out of curiosity, what big saves did Price make? I cant think of a single one. I can think of a lot of missed shots, or shots into his chest and pads, but not much else.

He wont be waived because hes Hossa BFF. That may be the only good thing about Hossa leaving after this season - he can take Kopecky with him.

Well then we're either watchign different games or you have a really low standard, i thought Hossa and Gaborik were best friends, they have kopecky up there because hossa is a mentor for thim, obviously not a good one, lets just hope he hits a few more guys throught he glass on his way out

God I hope not! And to be fair- Lidstrom's vision's been off ever since he switched to the visor- he was still offensively strong in the preseason.

I'm pretty sure we'll see Lids' stats back up where they usually are by season end. His skating, movement and the rest just hasn't changed very much. His vision being off still would make sense all things considered.

Lidstrom's stats don't concern me. He goes through patches where he's not an offensive threat, he always has. But he sure seems to have slipped. Hopeflly it's just a temporary skid, but has anyone noticed that the Wings live and die with Lidstrom? When he's out of the lineup, we're terrible, despite the insane talent we have, and when he's not playing up to snuff, no one else is either.

It's kind of scary, and also illogical. There's no reason for it, with the talent we have.

Actually I think you're completely right. While it may not being that lidstrom is having a hard time seeing, it could be a mental thing until he gets used to it. We should absolutely wait until the end of the year until we demote him to the second pairing.

I could care less how many points he has. What concerns me is his play in our own zone.

Because Kopecky is a mentor for him? Thats laughable. DALLAS DRAKE was a mentor for Kopecky. Hossa can't teach talent.

And I don't know where you've been, but its been all over Detroit made that Kopecky being a good friend of Hossas had an affect on Hossas interest in Detroit. When it was rumored that Hossa was interested in Detroit, Kopecky called Marian up and sold him on the deal. They also live together. They also grew up together. They've been friends for years.

No hossa is a mentor to kopecky, a bad one, i knwo htier friends, i thinnk babcock is hte one who sold him, bottom line if Kopecky dosen't prove him self soon he'll be on his way out i dk what your arguing about how kopecky is friends with hossa for, we all know that

With the exception of a few short stretches, the Wings were very sloppy and horribly unimpressive yet again tonight. Montreal had a plan on how to shut us down, and it's very clear that it worked.

It's good we're only a quarter of the way through the season, as these are the exact kind of kinks that need to be ironed out come playoff time, or else we won't be raising the Cup again this year. Nonetheless, I have bundles of faith in this team, so I'm not worried.

Though, yes, our record is technically 14-3-4, it's also 14-7, which looks a lot less impressive. The whole overtime loss column tends to make records look a hell of a lot better than they are.

And, yes, the Franzen goal was great. I don't think anybody will disagree with you there.

QFT, pisses me to read people say we've only lost 3 games, blah, blah. A loss to me is a loss, anybody care to share what those overtime losses translate to in the post season?

Wow, what an absolutely brutal effort by Detroit  Credit to Montreal, they played a great "Wings" game. Solid defensively and got pucks to the net = lucky bounces.

Kopecky needs to get the hell off that first line - that is all I have to say about that game

I'm sorry, but Kopecky wasn't the worst player on that 1st line. Not by a long, long, long, long looooong way. Datsyuk was utterly & totally anonymous.
