This loss (and the two game losing "streak" that is accompanying it) is not the calamity many make it out to be... The Wings had a letdown after a road stretch, that's unfortunate but foreseeable. They've played some mediocre hockey of late, admittedly, but there are some things they can do to get back on the right track and return to form.

I'll have to go ahead and agree that I've got no clue what Kopecky is doing on the first line. I've seen enough of him bungling great passes from Datsyuk and Hossa. He obviously doesn't have that great of hands, and it's utter nonsense that Hudler, who's been racking up the points with 12 mins a night, isn't getting a shot on the top line.

Someone mentioned, Lidstrom still plays good defense. YoungGuns said:

Never said he wasn't. Hes just not the elite of the elite anymore.

Then someone mentioned Lidstrom still will put up decent offensive numbers this year. Young Guns then said:

I could care less how many points he has. What concerns me is his play in our own zone.

So which one is it? Sounds like you're just bitching for the sake of bitching. I stopped taking you seriously when you stated Lidstrom isn't the elite of the elite anymore. You don't go from best defenseman in the world (yeah, I said it: the world) to not even in the same category as "the elite". Who are these elite you are referring to?

That said, I will recommend that you stop posting gibberish and take a time-out. You've taken this loss even more personally than I have, and I hate Montreal.

I cannot believe so many people are ripping into Kopecky. Blind hatred obviously because he was absolutely fine last night, he had quite a few good scoring oppertunities.

Please, Kopecky has 3 points in 21 games. He has absolutely NO business playing on the first line, and honestly he shouldn't be on the team at all. If Hossa wasn't living in his house, I honestly believe he would not be playing for this team right now.

Filppula has 8 points in 21 games, your point is?

trading fillpula and getting all that extra cap space.....oops i didn't just say that.

The 3mil cap space wouldn't be enough to keep Hossa so explain please what we would do with it? How bout sign a talented you forward with a year or 2 NHL experience that is very good defensively.

Like Filpulla....

I wasn't aware Filppula had been promoted to the first line. Filppula has also contributed 61 points in 172 games for the Wings, versus the AMAZING 16 points Kopecky has put up in 124 games. At this rate, Kopecky is on pace to match McCarty and Maltby points wise, yet can't kill penalties, can't fight, and barely hits or skates.

I've yet to see a valid justification for Kopecky's permanent roster spot on this team.

stupidest post of the day.

So what is your brilliant take on why Kopecky earned a roster spot over Helm, Leino, Downey, etc? I guess it's his excellent skating ability, soft hands, tough as nails checks and unmatched fighting ability? Your contribution to this thread is remarkable.

QFT, pisses me to read people say we've only lost 3 games, blah, blah. A loss to me is a loss, anybody care to share what those overtime losses translate to in the post season?

You obviously did not think this through. Let's do a little analysis here. Take away the 1 point for the OT/SO losses and see where we stand just based on win loss percentage:

In the WC

1. San Jose .818

2. Detroit .667

3. Vancouver .636

4. Minnesota .600

5. Clagary .545

6. Aneheim .521

7. Chicago .500

Everybody else would be below .500

Now take that 0.667 winning percentage over 82 games we finish with 55 wins.

Even without the points for OT/SO losses, we are kicking ass at 14-7.

Kopy is on the roster because he can't be sent down without clearing wavers. Helm and Leino are in GR because they need the experience and get more playing time there.

They should let him go to waivers then. The lines are Babcock's prerogative, but it's obvious they didn't work last night. Bump Franzen up, give Hudler some respect and bump him up, and play Helm.

Kopecky is kept on the roster for Hossa. I'm okay with him being on the 4th line. But on the first line is ridiculous.

Babcock needs to change it up.

Last year he got praised for switching the offensive lines up. We've seen absolutely nothing of that despite needing a jump in Offense.
