RedArmy 4 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=398465 I know the Avery topic is dead, but this is too funny not to post... Bettman said Avery's remark offended him as a parent. "To be perfectly honest I wouldn't want to have to explain to my 12-year-old daughter what he said," the commissioner said. Anomalously 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 Bettman's naive for thinking that his 12-year-old daughter doesn't know what a sloppy second is. Seriously.
TheOwl 77 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 I don't understand the whole reason for sending Avery to counciling or therapy other then PR reasons. Theirs millions of people just like Avery in every highschool on the planet. He's just an immature, cocky, stupid person. That's his personality, I don't see how therapy or whatever their going to do to him will help. Maybe a lobotomy.

Bettman said Avery's remark offended him as a parent. "To be perfectly honest I wouldn't want to have to explain to my 12-year-old daughter what he said," the commissioner said. I'm calling BS. Not defending Avery in the least but.... If Bettman "wouldn't want to have to explain" to his daughter what "sloppy seconds" means, how does he NOT feel a thousand times MORE remorseful having to "explain" to his 12-year-old daughter how, and WHY, her father has nearly single-handedly brought a Major Sports League to the brink of ruin? The man is evil. No other explanation for it. ***Edit*** And I seriously doubt that Bettman manages to be "somewhat honest" on most occasions. He probably hasn't had even a passing acquaintance with "perfectly honest" since childhood. Edited December 17, 2008 by Outsider
NC WINGS FAN 5 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=398465 I know the Avery topic is dead, but this is too funny not to post... Bettman said Avery's remark offended him as a parent. "To be perfectly honest I wouldn't want to have to explain to my 12-year-old daughter what he said," the commissioner said. If that were the case then he would resign as commissioner of the NHL so as to avoid having to explain to his 12 year old daughter why people think he sucks. I bet she knows what a midget and a gnome is by now!!!
Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 Does Bettman still think his daughter believes in Santa still? I mean seriously. Nieve. 12 year olds know alot worse stuff than a sloppy second.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted December 17, 2008 Bettman needs to pull his panties out of his ass. As a parent, s*** happens and you need to explain things to your kids. Dunno what kind of sheltered, life-in-a-box childhood he's pushing on them, but it certainly isn't logical at all. I also wonder how many would fall for Avery's excuse of him saying what he did because he has anger issues. This supposedly checking himself into that program was about as much feigning sincerity as Bettman feigning to be a good parent.
NC WINGS FAN 5 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 Does Bettman still think his daughter believes in Santa still? I mean seriously. Nieve. 12 year olds know alot worse stuff than a sloppy second. Unfortunately, and in all seriousness, we live in an age where kids are bombarded with sexual content everywhere they go. You got 12 year olds telling their parents about the "Donkey Punch". Hell, when I was that age, back in 1996, my friends and I would steal the neighbors porn mags and READ THE ARTICLES!!! For him to say what he said is just typical Bettman dribble. NC WINGS FAN 5 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 .... or how about, "Daddy why did Chris Celios say you need to be gassed?" Seriously, not only would he be doing the fans/league/sport a favor, he would be doing his kids one as well.
Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 All this is BS - Avery got 6 game suspension for WORDS and Kostropoulos 3 games for breaking Mike Van Ryn's neck... is Hamrlik going to be suspended for his check on Staal last night? NHL is a circus and Bettman is a clown.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 (edited) I'm not going down the whole Avery got suspended debate. All I'm going to say with that is if Avery continued his shenanigans, it would eventually come up to bite him in the rear in a suspension, and it did. Being suspended for saying sloppy seconds might be silly, but again consider the guy, it is Sean Avery. I wasn't surprised nor disappointed nor outraged or anything like that. I'm leaving that where it is. I can understand where Bettman is coming from, but kids are going to eventually find out about stuff - dirty words, naughty magazines, smoking, etc. And findign out about these kinda things is a lot more easier today than it was years/decades ago. It is up to the parents to explain to their children about these things. To think something like this was not going to happen is unrealistic. seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 I like how it's tough to explain "sloppy seconds" to your 12 year old, but grown men making each other bleed on a regular basis is no big deal. Remeber kids, violence = a-okay, sex = terribad.

edicius 3,269 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 But Bettman has NO problem with Viagra and Enzyte commercials airing during NHL broadcasts. I guess he has no issues discussing with his 12 year-old daughter the line in those commercials which goes, "If you have an erection lasting more than four hours, consult a doctor immediately." Nice double standard, *******. I am SO sick and tired of this s***. I'm not a parent yet, but I know I'll be one in the next few years. And you know what? I'm going to TALK to my kids and if I need to explain something to them, I will. If I feel they're not ready for it, simple answer - "It's grown-up stuff. We can talk about it when you're older." I'm not going to ******* demand that someone ELSE do my own parenting for me. For f***'s sake, Bettman, BE A ******* PARENT. DON'T EXPECT EVERYONE ELSE TO DO IT FOR YOU. Can you tell this is a sore subject with me?

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 (edited) Heh. So many parents let the TV raise their kids and then act betrayed, shocked and outraged when their child learns something they shouldn't. My thoughts exactly. Kinda similar to the Pickney High School situation here in Metro D. (For those who don't know, a 14 y.o. student took explicet pictures and sent them to two other students, and then they got sent to over 100 other students.) Parents act so shocked when stuff like that happens, but they're the ones who assume that risk when they provide their kids with picture phones and whatnot. But Bettman has NO problem with Viagra and Enzyte commercials airing during NHL broadcasts. I guess he has no issues discussing with his 12 year-old daughter the line in those commercials which goes, "If you have an erection lasting more than four hours, consult a doctor immediately." Nice double standard, *******. I'm with you on this one. I've noticed that they even advertise Viagra on the boards in some NHL arenas. I was listening to the 97.1 FM broadcast of a Wings game a few weeks back, and one of the commercials was for a similar product with the tagline, "Guys, if you want to be thicker and wider...." I wanna throw an axe at the tv everytime one of those commercials comes on. Edited December 17, 2008 by Hockeytown0001

HOCKEY MATTERS 167 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 I don't think most kids get their explainations of sexual terms from their parents.Peers, yes....parents, not so much. Especially a 12 year old girl. From her Daddy? Wait a minute....why is Buttman so concerned about the term "sloppy seconds"? Is there something he doesn't want his 12 year old "daughter" to know about that term.........i am so bad.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 Does this mean that every decision Bettman has made has been made from the standpoint of a 12 year old? Hey who knows, maybe when she turns 18 she'll start dating a veteran Sean Avery just to spite daddy?
HOCKEY MATTERS 167 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 so, is anyone who ever had sex more than once considered sloppy seconds? is there a time factor that removes one from the SL list? Just how long was it after Sean did the deed that Dion was the man. this whole time thing is bugging me, cuz i always thought sloppy seconds occurred seconds after the first.....while things were still "sloppy". OsGOD 3 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 (edited) so this begs the question.... how does he describe the acts the pronger does in the post season to "get off" with such easy punishments for such harsh offenses? Daddy why is that guy kneeling in front of you? does he think you are jesus? or Daddy why everywhere you go people want to f*** you? what does f*** mean? does it have anything to do with the sloppy seconds that guy said?
