zenway9 1 Report post Posted December 28, 2008 Does anyone think it might be time for a little motivation? Maybe Leino for Kopecky, Abdelakder for Filppula, Larsson for Conklin? I don't know, I have been noticing some loly-gaggin lately and I am wondering if maybe some replacements might be what the Wings need right now? Any opinions? CrossoverThrash 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2008 Maybe Leino or helm for kopecky, or a goalie for ozzie, otherwise let injuries decide whether to use Griffins
zenway9 1 Report post Posted December 28, 2008 I was going to suggest Helm, but I figured we will see him at some point in the season reagrdless.

Doggy 130 Report post Posted December 28, 2008 I don't think we can bring anyone up let alone many because of cap troubles. I can't be shagged crunching the numbers. I think Opie talked about this and summed it up well about a week ago.
sjradio 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2008 We have no cap space Correct That is why they couldn't call up Howard or Larsson when Ozzie was injured. They would have to put somebody on waivers or LTIR for them to be able to have the cap space to call up somebody. McCarty is already on LTIR, Downey is already cleared waivers. Anybody else on the Wings roster that you'd want to put on waivers and risk being claimed?
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted December 28, 2008 Not overly necessary. Every team, good or bad, is going to hit roadblocks and adversity through an 80+ game season. Good teams eventually overcome those roadblocks. Detroit is a good team. No need to do anything drastic when this team isn't even close to just snagging downhill or missing the playoffs. zenway9 1 Report post Posted December 28, 2008 I agree that we are still good enough, but it frustrates me when some of these young guys are sand-bagging it. Sitting out a game or two would show them that their place on the team is not automatic.

thedisappearer 291 Report post Posted December 28, 2008 A lot of the players you are wanting to send down are on 1 way contracts and would have to clear waivers. Ozzie or Conklin wouldn't. Flip wouldn't either. Don't get me wrong, I would liek to see Helm and/or Leino come up, but...

GROwl 5 Report post Posted December 28, 2008 Helm's injured. Sat out last night with sore hip or knee from Friday night's collision with the goal. Expected only to be out for a short time at this point.

wingslionstigers 12 Report post Posted December 28, 2008 I'm coming guys dont worry im heading down to meet with Holland and Babcock next week to tryout for the team. I have defensive abilitys like Nick Lidstrom, I have the leadership of Stevie Y, some say i shoot the puck like Marian Hossa, have the speed of Draper, i hit like Kronwall bang in rebounds like Holmstrom. I dangle defenders, snip tenders, and birch benders. -Gordon

Sitting out a game or two would show them that their place on the team is not automatic. What you are suggesting is an extreme measure when times aren't even close to extreme. A 2 game losing streak and having little to no chance of missing a playoff spot is not a cause for extreme changes. Everybody goes through 2 game losing streaks. XxGoWingsxX 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2008 Actually, helm is a cousin of mine through marriage of course but, my aunt said there have been words with him from the big club that if an offensive injury comes along...he's up, and she said there were talks about doing something (he couldn't tell her what, or just plain didn't know) very soon that would allow for him and possibly one other guy to step up to the big club and see what happens. My guess on what that something ...could possibly be because i think with our cap situation its the ONLY option...i would think that a trade for picks or something would be the ONLY way. Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted December 29, 2008 This team needs Darren Helm, and the sooner Babcock and company realize this, the better. Agreed, Helm is such a terrific player and brings to the table so many great attributes. I would rather him over any of our current 4th liners; it's such a shame we can't have him up here due to being to tight against the cap. A real shame because he thoroughly deserves to be here. egroen 384 Report post Posted December 29, 2008 I couldn't see Holland trading anyone other than possibly Kopecky (for a low round pick), but even that would give some flexibility. Maybe Meech (because I do not think he is going to trade Lebda)?
