Yeah, overeaction. Just so deprived of fighting I cant help it :P

If you want to see something, it's always better to do it yourself instead of waiting someone else to do it. Or does it have to be on T.V.?

I guess Sammy's never fought and he propably don't think he's good in it. What's the point in getting beaten by a better fighter when your team is leading 2-0?

That was a great all-around effort by the Wings. They were never outhustled by the Jackets even though it seemed like the kind of team they might have a let-down against. Excellent team defense, something they've shown for a while now.

I have to eat some crow, I didn't think the Wings could just crank up the defense after looking so bad for the first 25 games or so. Well, they're looking a lot like the team from last season now without the puck. The forwards are dropping back into the defensive zone to support the puck and they're backchecking furiously. How rare is it to see an odd man rush against the Wings lately? Pretty rare. It was happening 5 times a game for a while there.

Anyone ripping Babcock for not being hard enough on this team for its often lethargic performances may want to consider now the way the team is coming together. Babs coached teams that had playoff success and then came back and flopped the next year. He talked to lots of coaches, including guys like Scotty Bowman, about how to prepare for the inevitable letdown after a long playoff run. Maybe the conclusion is you don't beat the guys up, you just let 'em find their way on their own, at their own pace. Whatever the answer is, the Wings seem to have found it.

Conklin and Datsyuk were the stars of this one. Datsyuk is easily my favorite Red Wing. I've always thought he deserved more recognition than he gets, but it's obvious now that he's a tremendous hockey player on both ends of the ice. And 3/4 of the magic he does on the ice doesn't even involve scoring. It's the crazy move he makes to skate away from two defenders with the puck or make what looks like an impossible mistake turn out to be a smart clearing pass. The guy's unique; I can't think of a player like him, going back as far as I can remember.

Oh I've done it many times, probably why I look so bad and never went very far in hockey :P

Yeah, when I went back to rational thinking after my intial feeling towards it, I agree with you. No need to fight, up by 2 in the last minute, just laugh at him and skate away.

Conklin, Pasha, and Hossa = games stars 1, 2, and 3 tonight, per NHL/espn site. Right on, IMO. Great plays in this game, real Red Wing action all around.

I am fine with Sammy backing off. Wings were dominating, and Malhotra can fight, or at least he could as a Dallas Star. Smart move, I think. Apologies to those who just want to see a fight.

Don't feel bad. I wanted to see him go to, but he probably would've gotten hammered. He should start of with the little ones first - maybe have a go with Semin or Crosby.

The team is really looking like they could repeat now. If they do, I want everyone to remember Conklin and Datsyuk in recent games, I really think they jumpstarted this team (as well as Ozzie's stellar play the other night)

I'm in agreement with you on that last sentence. Even Sergei Fedorov in his prime wasn't as creative and fun to watch as Pasha is. I sit in wonderment every night, curious to see what new trick he's gonna pull out. He's got a magic bag that would make Felix the Cat envious. (And if you can remember that, you're aging yourself.) I'm going to see him again on Thursday night, and I'm hoping he'll pull something off that makes Marty Turco cringe.

A rather boring game, but a good effective win for the Red Wings. I will take a few more boring games if it means the Red Wings focus on defense.

Pavel is just amazing. I really can't say any more than that. I loved the interview after the game of Pavel telling Trevor Thompson he was preventing him from celebrating Russian Christmas.

I think our Red Wings are finally coming around. I bet the rest of the league is thrilled.

Great game by our boys tonight. It took us a while to get it going, but we prevailed in the end.

Mason is an excellent goaltender, and Conks played great tonight. Keep it up, boys!

I don't know I'm barely legal drinking age. You talking about Felix Potvin or the actual cartoon? I actually remember a goal where Datsyuk beat Lilja (who was playing for the Kings at that time) to the front of the net and gave Felix three dangles before he roofed the puck. He had no idea what hit him.

Speaking of Marty, Dallas could be a potential first rounder. Hope they're aware of that.

Just got back from the game. What a game to watch in person! Both goalies were fantastic, and I'm still in shock that Conks made that save on Peca. Crowd was great tonight, really into the game, and I nearly jumped up in the air after Hank got the monkey off his back with the en goal after a great play from Pavs.

LET'S GO RED WINGS!!!!

Actually, it was the cartoons I was referring to. Not many people here are of age to remember them. But I remember Felix Potvin too. Just goes to show you how old I am.

Just got back from the game. Yes, it took me 2.5 hours to get from the Joe to Ann Arbor. All the freakin freeways were closed... I am going to state the obvious: Nick Lidstrom is amazing. All the little things he does right just amazes me. I also thought Stuart played a solid game, as did Datsyuk & Conklin (that save was amazing).
